Unfortunately it's true.

I have been saying the same thing for a while. It's funny rsc classic is being recreated. Maybe they should re release the classic and call it good for some. All I know is the sof needs to die.

I read through the whole thing, he seems to think his opinions are shared by the whole Runescape community.
He's basically complaining about multiple things and claiming to be speaking for everyone to back up what he says. First off, he's complaining about how the EoC came too fast, as no one was ready for it, not even Jagex. Well, he's right about Jagex not being ready, the amount of bugs they had was immense. But as for the players, from everywhere I've heard thus far, everyone adjusted quite quickly; I don't see a problem there.
Another factor he brought up was the promises of Jagex soon-to-release anti-bot updates, and how they've constantly assured us of it, just to keep us happy until someone observant asks "When?". I agree with that they need to tell the truth about this, either let us know that they're over their head, they've no Godly idea how to stop bots, or if they do, then do it now.
And last, his strongest case, is Jagex keeping better connected with the Runescape community, about how they make no effort for doing this. But in my mind they've tried that, just no one's interested. They set up a Youtube video channel and from what I can tell, people use this as an opportunity to lay down some public rage on them, because they've no power to do anything on Youtube. They set up a Twitter feed on their website, but does anyone ever pay attention to that? Not me. They're connected to Facebook and even have it integrated with their login server, and that's pretty cool (Although even if I used Facebook, I wouldn't use this). So when this 'Skill 2496' continually points the finger saying Jagex makes no honest effort to involve itself with the community, I can't stop but think this guy's oblivious.
I agree with a little of what he's saying, but honestly this seems like just another thread of someone trying to get attention. These are indeed a dime a dozen.

I agree with a bit of this, but not entirely.
Jagex HAS tried to get in touch with the community with methods such as Youtube and Twitter, but that's not the main point! Jagex isn't listening to our feedback at all. We've been asking for so many things, yet they just dont seem interested.
Fix something that isn't broken, I honestly believe that's Jagex's motto.
Granted they've been working on the EoC, but I honestly believe it wasn't needed. I personally have no problem with it, but I quite liked Runescape for it's simplicity.

I can understand that, I agree they don't listen to feedback nearly as much as they should. But apparently a lot of the EoC is built on player's feedback from the beta testing, the problem is that percentage of testers was incredibly low, thus only a handful of players had a say in how to perfect the new combat system.
Yep maybe it wasn't needed but it was a pretty big change. If it were me I would have put off the release date and had much, much more testing and bug-fixing beforehand.
Perhaps from this point on a simply Runescape is out of the question. :P I imagine more people will switch to private servers, if anything at all.

I miss RSC now. The EOC made things too complicated. Now it is less enjoyable.

Yes, I do believe that all the blame cant be placed on Jagex. I just sorta wish that they didn't lie through their teeth and say stuff like "Based on the overwhelming
POSITIVE feedback on the EoC..". It'd have been cool if they set up a poll voting for EoC such as the poll for the wilderness.

I wanted the EoC and enjoy the EoC. There are still some bugs with it, but they will be sorted out in time and by this time next year we will all be used to it and Jagex will have almost all of the bugs fixed (this was a huge update after all)

Yeah, Dungeoneering is a ALOT more fun with the EoC.
Slayer, however, isn't. Im glad I got 99 Slayer before EoC.
But still,I sorta enjoyed afking, now I cant :/

You can still AFK with the 20 minute ability, that amplifies all your weps. (Forgot what it was called, remember reading about it!)

Though the only reason that they polled players on free trade was be cause they knew it would be an overwhelmingly polular update. Jagex isn't into being publicly slammed by players, although they avoid this by limiting feedback instead of doing things that the players want. Do you think they would have done a poll on micro transactions? No, because they already knew players would be against it.
Exactly, so why the hell would they bother going through with it?
At R4, you get hit through prayer now, so it cuts down on asking a lot.

I think it's a mistake to believe that a bunch of Cambridge grads (among others) don't know how to stop the majority of today's bots. It's far more likely that they have reasons for not stopping bots. I'm not going to publically speculate on what reasons they may have, but I think it's clear that there is more to the situation than meets the eye.

Keeps them alive, no?
Read through the whole thing and same is valid for
most software companies. Somewhere along the line they just loose contact with their userbase. When expansion is credo, things tend to go wrong.
I do think however this guys is overreacting. EOC is not that bad, a beta has been out for months, an introduction is given. Feedback through FB is amusing and the info through their wiki is complete.
Remains the subject of bots. They keep the economy alive, simple as that. Take mining for instance: without bots their wouldnt be a single ore on stock; I hardly ever see legits mining anymore. All lower level (and nowadays high level) raw materials are brought into the economy by bots. Without them the GE economy would collapse… they are knitted into the economy.
Good read though from a universal unsatisfied customer.

You can´t make all of the community happy. That would never ever happen. In my opinion Jagex is doing a good job else this game wouldn´t been played anymore. This is a game from 1999-2001 which is still alive.
I enjoy the EoC and think this guy is a dick, Jagex plz read dis!!

Took me 2 attempts to read it, however I do agree mostly. Apart from the adjusting to EoC, everyone seems to have done it quite quickly. Apart from me, but then I haven't actually used combat yet. >.<

I will forever miss my normal runescape.
The whole concept of a weapon that could special attack and each weapon was Unique in the special is a hell of a lot better than some ability that fails. Example: you cant hit with a Pickaxe on a lrc as the tool/weapon bonus prevent you from hitting. With 99 att/str and an offhand weapon I never hit a lrc one time while I was doing a challenge.
With this I would never be able to kill a lrc patriarch.
In the clan I belong, over 90% find combat horrible now, the ones that like it are mainly 12-15 years old. If Jagex things all players are 12-15 years old thats part of the problem there.
The tagging system is probably the biggest failure of the entire game now. Most of the bosses in runescape hit everyone, If someone tags a monster they should be the only person that gets damaged then. Free for all combat is now. "I have faster internet than you." and glad my parents live in enland and the RS serer is in my backyard. I get all drops and Im level 50.
There are so many "problems" in eoc I will have to agree to his postings. It was not ready to release at all. I continually see people say no one played the beta. The reason - why would anyone want to play beta and gain no XP. Basically waste thier time and gain nothing. Jagex could have at least allowed people to gain the Xp in combat only skills. Then it wouldnt have been a total waste.

Hello Alex and Jeff,
I have also sent this to Mark Gerhard via Facebook.
This is a long discourse, but it is not a rant. It is intended to help you understand from a customer perspective what large changes such as the introduction of EoC to Runescape means, and to give you some insight into the impact the game has on people's lives. Please read it, I believe you will get some value from actively listening to your customers.
Let me start by saying I am 46 years old, have been a paid member for 4 years and have a (previously) 134cb main & a 51cb pure. I understand that I am not the demographic you are aiming for. Over those years, I have, however, paid you over $4,600 in fees on my main, $2,000 on my pure, and spent over $3,000 on sof and sols. And that's just my accounts, not including the kids. I enjoy the "timeout" Runie gives me after work, the fact that I can lose myself in it and forget the worries of work, and I have always felt that the money is well spent.
I met my current partner (also 46) on your game (6 year paid member, 138cb main & a 60cb pure, has also paid you over $10,000 in his time). While I understand meeting others in this way is frowned upon, it has been the best thing that has ever happened to me. We have many common interests, and I would not change it for the world, I would do anything for him. So your game has had a major impact on both of our lives. Between us, we have 6 kids from 10 to 17 years of age. All up, we have over 10 accounts, 6 of which are paid members for over 4 years.
Eoc is geared towards the kids. They all love it, I have seen the renewed interest, and being a business analyst for an IT firm myself, I can see the value in this strategy for Jagex. I do understand the need to bring the game back into the present, and do not begrudge the change from this perspective at all. Our kids ARE your main demographic & so they should be.
Having said that, EoC has taken ALL of the pleasure out of playing the game for my partner and myself. We both tried & hated beta, but decided to hang out & give it a go. It took us both 1 week. He has cancelled his 2 paid accounts, and I am about to do the same for both of mine. My high combat friends are all dropping off like flies. The abilities are way too overpowered, leaving us slower oldies at a major disadvantage, and the amount of bugs in the release is appalling for a game that has been in beta for over 3 months. The option to just close the action bar DOES NOT WORK against either pvms or pvps who are using abilities, leaving us at a significant disadvantage & taking away all the enjoyment. The only equivalent I can think of follows:
You have been a loyal paying customer of a firm providing you an excellent electricity supply for four years, but they have recently brought in a change. Now, you can have a trickle of your former full service, enough to run the fridge, and if you want more to watch the TV, you have to hit a button on the wall every 5 seconds. There are no options to return to your previous levels of service. Ask yourselves, are you happy? Will you look for other supply options?
I have no issue with the introduction of the EoC abilities for your future, but please respect your existing client base, and provide a non-eoc world or two where Momentum is permanently enabled & all other abilities are disabled. I know there is additional development / testing and ongoing support required when you have multiple configurations such as I am asking for, but I do not ask for the removal of EoC, just continued support for continued enjoyment of a game that I pay for.
To be honest, Jagex would also gain other benefits of non-eoc worlds. It would separate the mature players from the kids, allowing you over time to slowly wean us off the game by leaving out further updates. It would also help you to understand how many of us there are right now, how important we are in your current client base, and how many of us truly dislike the EoC abilities. I know you don't want us in the big picture, but most of us have been loyal fans for a long period, pay you a lot, AND play a major role in raising the young minds you ARE aiming at! You have a duty to continue providing a game we can play based on our years of support.
I don't want you to remove EoC, I applaud that as an organisation you can recognise when change is required, and adapt to it quickly. I just want you to accept responsibility for the expectations you have set with your existing clients. I FULLY expect you to provide me with continued pleasure from a game I enjoy & pay good money to enjoy. At the moment, this is not happening. Unfortunately, if I don't receive a response, I will be leaving completely & finding an alternative. The kids have already started looking for something for me, as they don't believe you will listen. I really hope you do.
Kind regards,
Runehack123

Can't tell if trolling or dead serious. Why would you spend so much money on pixels? :duh:
EDIT: Nevermind, I'm 100% certain that this is a joke. Very funny post though. Made me laugh a lot thanks! :)

I believe runescape is intended for 12-15 year olds (i.e. a younger audience group - teenagers and children) so it's not surprising that these age groups enjoy the update.
Personally, I'd be embarrassed if a friend told me he played runescape at age 16+. BlackOps, LeaugeOfLegends…that's ok. But runescape at age 16+ just makes you socially awkward in my opinion. Please don't be offended, it's just an opinion and I'm sure there's a lot of 'very friendly' mature players out there. Can't stop laughing. Sorry. ;)

I'v lost the email to my account and thanks to jagex making everything needing email, I have basically lost control of my account.
I'v tried to post on the correct forum to get it fixed but no reply, more than 2 months later.
I once even tried posting in the wrong topic to get a reply only to get told by mods to post in the correct fourm.
I havn't actually tried email recently (I think I dBi months back but no reply)
