Hello everyone! I am new to this whole thing and did not see a place for intro's so i thought i would start here. ATM i am a leech :( But i am reading into how to script for simba so there is hope! I was trying to learn to use c++ in the past but it was just too heavy for me starting out.

A few things i would like to know is how you all started out. What was your first attempts at scripting and what helped you out the most. Are there any early mistakes i can avoid? Any tips and advice really!

Sorry If this was the wrong place to post this!

I hope to contribute a script that you all like really soon!

Mostly the tutorials on this site helped me. GL with contributing! I have some scripts that are almost finished.

I pretty much started out scripting with SCAR (The precursor to Simba) and then made a return after several years (couldn't remember my account, so made a new one).

Basically just read up on all the tutorials and then trial and error until you get the hang of how things operate with begins..ends, if..then, functions, procedures and so forth.

But welcome to the community and trust me, if you run into an issue there are tonnes of people willing to lend a hand!

Welcome to SRL. I hope you enjoy your stay here. Though we have an increasing leecher population, it just goes to show the popularity of Simba scripting. SRL has a welcoming community :)

First of all welcome to SRL! The best way to start is actually try and make a script that does static things(no walking) like superheating, alching and other things where all you do is take items from bank and use them and in the process you will learn the functions/procedures required to do them. Once you are able to do this you will have learnt most of the basics :). Then you can go on to advanced stuff like walking/mainscreen object finding etc.

Hey there! Best thing for me was to have a look through other peoples scripts / tweak them myself!

Welcome!

I'm new myself and this community is THE most helpful one there is. Take the time to read the tuts and you'll be amazed at how quickly you can learn from them. By reading the tuts and taking some old / outdated scripts I've gained knowledge and experience at the same time. If you hit a problem you can't figure out on your own, everyone I've asked for help has always been very nice, polite, and provided not only assistance but positive motivation to learn more. In my opinion you are at the best place there is to learn. I'm positive your time here will be as rewarding as mine has been.

I started out testing scripts. Like legit, I was an official script tester. Thats how I got my basic understanding of many functions, and I already knew pascal. I can't say you should do the same, as it was a ton of work, but you could just look at the scripts you like and work from there.
