Even though I received the email 9 hours earlier than my birthday (timezones and such) it was a great reminder of the past. Don't think I've posted here since the switch back to villavu.com but I just stopped in to say hi and I can't believe you guys are still running strong.

Anybody here remember me? I also went by Tigiot on other forums and Tig Ol' Bitties back in the ancient Sythe (when it wasn't so bad) and Kaitnieks days.

Hey Fawk and Mjordan, I'm glad you guys remembered me. How're things for the two of you? What've you been working on lately (besides SRL)?

Sorry, cause, I can't say that I really remember interacting with you but that doesn't mean you're not special!

Edit: Scrolling through the forum I'm seeing this Simba thing and something called Lape. This confuses me. I heard there was something up between SRL and Freddy but I never looked into it much and the only times I was talking to Freddy was back when we played Wurm Online so I never asked him about it. I guess this isn't something that you want publicly discussed so if somebody wants to send me a message or point me where I can find out why SRL headed away from SCAR I would appreciate it.

Edit 2: Also, I see SRL Stats has a lot of data logged and would like to point out that Rancidkraut and I worked on something similar and Rancidkraut approached you guys here at SRL about it but was shut down and without support our version never took off so we stopped development. Then 3-4 months later SRL Stats came out. All stuff from over 5 years ago so doesn't matter anyways. Just sayin' ya know. ;)

a lot of openGL lately, and lape those are the two major things

openGL is kinda working like reflection did (we grab ID's of stuff) since jagex is really into getting it so reflection with java doesn't work

That's cool but I meant what are they working on that's non-Runescape related. I'm pretty over Runescape (almost 10 years since I first played it) and into other kinds of development right now. Particularly, I'm into mobile development the most. I'm curious as to what kinds of projects people are working on that could revolutionize the web. Or at least a small part of it.

well lape is more simba related than runescape :P

revolutionize the web? I'd point to html5 for that, for getting rid of the need for flash.. but that isn't really a villavu project lol

So what exactly is Lape and how does Simba differ from SCAR (besides being able to tie in other languages)? I realize I could look around but it'd be so much more convenient for you to tell or link me to a synopsis (besides the Simba thread).

Also, I had meant what personal projects are Fawk and Mjordan working on – not necessarily Villavu related but more on the lines of what are they working on that will make some money.

Welcome (partially) back :) You may or may not remember me (doubt you will), as I have had several name changes over the years. I doubt you'd even know my name over at Kaitnieks (I don't even remember it, and I was just a guy with a zero post count back then) :p

So what exactly is Lape

It's an interpreter. Much like how your internet browser interprets and executes JavaScript code.

how does Simba differ from SCAR

The programs are mostly the same, as they share the same idea: to be a colour-macro. Simba is just open source, whilst SCAR is closed source (nothing wrong with that). Each have differently named functions/procedures (some of them. Common ones like "FindColor" are still the same), and have different appearances.

Thanks for the informative response Daniel. I may remember you if I knew your username at the time but it's been quite a long time so there's no telling. I'll probably post here and there now, been wanting to get back to programming roots. SCAR has always been some of the most fun I had in programming.

Daniel, perhaps you can answer me this, as I don't think Fakawi is returning to this thread soon, whatever happened to Boreas? I haven't talked to him for a long time. He and I were given honorary SRL Members by Fawk for "exceptional coding skill and a good attiude" (at least that was the reason for me) and we got along pretty well.
