I've never seen a jagex/runescape advert outside of runescape.com. Why they don't do it? I think they could probably get more players and make more money if they advertised. What kind of advertising would be efficient if they advertised runescape? Youtube ads, facebook ads or even TV ads?

They had TV ad(s) and posters placed at high schools for sure, not sure where though but it wasn't worldwide.

No idea why they don't, maybe research shows its actually other that helpful? Or maybe it's quite costly? Good point though there isn't super much mass advertising.

There is a TV advert however it rarely ever comes on…I do have Sky+ anyway so if I have recorded any TV shows mostly I skip the adverts :f:

The only advert I've seen in a block ad on Youtube, not an actual video ad. That was only once. I think they should advertise, small scale. No harm can be done. >.<

It would be good but maybe they've realized that their revenue is dying

They are a long-standing game and with a big enough client base that small-scale advertising is all they need to do. I bet >90% of their players heard about the game through word of mouth and started playing because their friends at the time played.

I guess they only advertise in the UK then as I've seen TV adverts for it, they don't need to waste vast amount of money on advertisement if they want to max profit, must have done some market research if advertising in other countries was worth it and looks like they realized it wasn't

I've seen adverts all over Facebook/TV :P

I remember a few months back I saw a Runescape advert on TV for the first time. Quite surprised to see it to be honest, but I've only ever seen it shown the once.

i've never seen the TV advert. but i agree i think most players start playing from word of mouth of their friends.

yeah i started word of mouth because of practically all the boys and a few girls in my class played

no like ads on the side of the screen to the right of the vids. for sites like gold4rs ect. i've never actually seen any rs related advert played before a video though.

The YouTube ad that you can X out, not the video ad

Like p1ng said, they don't really need to advertise much. I bet if we did a poll, most of the people here found out about runescape through a friend.

The advert they have on their Youtube channel is actually the TV advert btw guys.

They were advertised by Miniclip who put it under their favourite MMORPGs.
That must of helped.
I found rs that way.

I can't remember how I found out about RS, I think it was just randomly looking for a game to play and came across it. xD

I feel stupid. When I was younger I thought Miniclip would of paid jagex to have it on their site.

I've seen it on flash game websites long ago, I do not know about anymore though.
