So after reading this:

As you will have seen, the new combat level calculation is:

2 + Defence + X = Combat Level
X = The highest of either Attack, Strength, Ranged, Magic or Summoning

Therefore the new highest combat level is 200, and the new lowest is 4.

Prayer was dropped from the formula.

In regards Constitution, while again it does make a difference, in the new system they don't make enough of a difference to warrant a place in the new formula

I couldn't help but think about if pures would be any good… Because this game has been garbage for years now and I've been forced to adapt to F2P PKing over and over and over and over and over again… I can't help but think about how this will change everything about PvP yet again… So what do you guys think? Will Def 1 pures be any good? Cmb lvl 102 with everything maxed except Def lol… This game is silly :)

Ideas?

note: I haven't tried the beta yet, has anyone played around with PvP? PKing specifically…

well according to jagex, def will actually make a noticeable difference and not to mention, u need high def to wear good armor which inturn increases ur lifepoints so i think pures wont be that big of a deal anymore. the new combat is oriented towards a balanced style of play due to the X in above formula.

IMO, 1 Def is just stupid in the EOC. You will easily get 1 hit, as you have a very little boost to your life points from the armour you can wear at 1 Def.
Now the real good thing is that the new combat level system doesn't take HP/Prayer/Magic into account so you could make a pretty good pure out of that.

As said in the OP, Magic can boost your cb.

Even in F2P? I understand in membs because there is a ridiculous amount of weapons, potions, prayers, other boosts, but will it be possible to 1 hit people in F2P?

I guess what I'm trying to say is has RS become a full on "gear" game Instead of a "lvl/skill" game?

Hmm, maybe all out Range pure, who cares if you can't wear the d'hide body ;) Or lvl 20 or 30 def pure? There has to be something that works, I'm gonna be very upset if pures are eliminated from PvP.. :(

Well no matter what the best option is, my PK'er and pure army will just have to try it all. :sasmokin:

I didn't think Summoning was included in combat level calculations. I thought it was 2 + Defense level + Attack/Strength/Range/Magic (whichever was the highest). HP/Pray/Summoning didn't count? Unless that changed, that's how it originally was planned to be.

And since you can easily 1 hit anyone with 1 defense… unfortunately Pures are dead now.

Even if 1 def fails how easy will it be for you to find the new lowest def pure I say keep 1 def and wait and see what accounts people come up with there is always a balance so no 1 defence accounts will be ruined just need re tuning :)

All I have to say is that someone will breed a new type of pure. Others will follow, like in the past with updates. Give it time. :D

:0 Didnt see that magic counted. Either way, it seems that 200CB is the best option to go for pking. Just max out everything :D

I'm going to make a high prayer player with only fight with strength. I'll look like a level 7 nub but can hit higher and have more def. :D

I don't see why a 40def pure wouldn't work in F2P…

Ah, F2P.

I haven't tried out F2P combat yet… No idea what the max hits are, but I'd assume that a 1 defense pure would still get squashed.

A rune pure would work F2P.

Why the upgrade to 50? I still don't see why a 50def pure wouldn't work in that case.

Will this character be useless after EoC? I heard barrow gloves are going to have a defence requirement, is that true?

I think we'll see a lot more of maxed def pures or something around that

I guess all those people who made range/mage tank hybrids will be happy. :D

Not all one defence pures will die out but they won't have the impact they have now. If I had one I would try to get rid of it in the black market.

Hmm I don't see why you should after I posted I logged in eoc on one of my old account 1 defence range mage pure I've never had so much fun hits dam hard happily trained at ankous for about 30 mins still with plenty of food accident gained gained a def level at first so I decided to test def level and armors I found so far 20 def works pretty well for mage pure wearing the new spiderweb or wateva at 20 def also I combo of mage and range works pretty well on eoc. you should get on and test try different things yourself while you can keep re-importing ur account.

yeah but that can easily be adapted.

from this point onwards, it seems pvp/pvb is all about choosing he correct setup and ability combination, rather than just maxing a particular skill and bashing ur opponent up

If you are a pure combat 102 maxed out, and you face someone level 102 with 40 defence the highest attack/strength/range/mage they can have is 60. Doesn't this make pures better?

And I just started making a pure…

yes, but you forget that armor will increase life points and defence actually matters. So a 1def will get toasted unless they managed to stun/bind constantly.
