If you knew...

If you knew what would happen to the state of Runescape with the release of free trade, would you have voted yes?

I personally would have voted Yes still, free trade is required, even with the corrupt parts.

Would've voted No if we were allowed to trade set amounts, greater than the 60k limit. (2m-3m).

I would still vote yes, hoping that Jagex eventually permanently breaks injection bots.

PS. How's dat break doing?

Yeah it really has got out of hand, I suppose I would agree with you, a larger limit would have been alright. No one really needs truely free trade apart from just people transferring wealth.

Yes, they should have like something MapleStory did, where you could transfer items through something official.

No. why? well I don't bot for any sort of irl profit and the profit you could bot back then was insane. And no one ever suspected you being a bot.

No matter how you slice it, Jagex did themselves in. What the heck were they thinking in late 07? Why did they overreact over bots that were easily bannable? The game was at such a high, that when they removed free-trade and wilderness, they literally had a co-found effect on the whole player base. Riots people, riots. Even if Jagex was to clean everyone's bank you would not see riots similar the ones in 07. On the update thread every time you refreshed the page you would get a new page. Business wise it was a terrible decision. Extremely bad long term effects were to come at the rate they lost players. And they felt it. That's why they brought everything back. But the damage was done. They brought back bots that were far more advanced then they were in 07. It sucks. It was a great game. All great things come to an end I guess.

You won't ever see the RS community

I still have hope for a semi-permanent breaking of injection. What's this new html-5 thing people were talking about? Would that do it?

Same forum, even same page :p

But yeah, I actually was against free trade coming back at the time (hilariously I got several negative reps for saying so), and I personally think that the game was better with it there. Good quality updates in that time, and generally a better feel with less bots. SRL survived because we were always the guys just training our mains, and never goldfarmed.

Personally, I like the idea of a single player depending on their own skills and materials to advance in the game. In a sense it gave a more meaningful reason to focus time and energy on one account. The more you gained through effort the faster you advance in skills and profit.

I think with the free trade it gave a huge incentive to create throw-away accounts for the sole purpose reaping income for their main account or for RWT. I also believe having gained money so quickly/easily on a main account would have been fun for a short time, then shortly after defeating the purpose of playing the game.

But that's just my opinion, as I can understand completely why others would disagree with that.

Edit:
To answer the question, I would have voted No, knowing then what I know now.

I thrive off this market, so I would still say yes.
Seeing as I am a minority… for the general game and the player base who do not survive purely off of impulsive people; I would vote no for them.
