Hey. I've been around here before, years ago. I was an idiot and a leecher. I want to apologise and try to give a little back. Really, I'm saying Hello again, but I want to ask a few quick things:

What's the best way to learn the language properly?

Can anyone afford time to answer questions etc?

What happened over the years to SCAR?

Where did SIMBA Come from, what's it like?

You should start from tutorial island section, all answers, and things you should know is there, if you have any questions you can ask them at HELP section as well :)

Scar is still around but wizzup? devolped simba which is what we use now, its not much different to smart.

1) Watching YoHoJo's tuts! then moving onto the text tutorials. Personally (As a hands on learner) I like to dissect things that are already made.

2) Post all your questions in the help category there are tons of people to help!

3) SCAR is still around and kicking slightly (freddy1990.com)

4) SRL library was created during the time of SCAR's reign, we simply put had a better community that put more effort into their community project. Thus simba was born. Simba and Scar are very similar, the exception being Simba has the entire SRL library and a stronger community.

Easiest way to learn would be to follow Griffs tutorial to scripting down your first tree and from there you can building on your skills!

Also:
-Simba is open source, Scar is closed source.
-Many people can work on simba, only freddy can work on scar.
-Large motivator of starting simba was the fact that only freddy could work on scar and each version brought new (sometimes quite serious) bugs that would take forever to be worked out because it was only freddy working on it.

Well, if you want start off on the basics, look at the TuT in my Siggy. Small series, will be adding to it later. This is the basics of the basics of pascal, mainly to understand the other scripting Tutorials.
