What are the main usage of metal bars

After playing a few years, still not very sure about how is the price of metal bars been decided. Iron and adament bar can both be used for smithing platebody for get high amount of exp in short time. Steel bar is the ingredient for making cannon ball and mithril bar can be used for making summoning pounch.
But what about rune bars? I don't think anyone will use it to training summoning, since it's cost per exp is too high. So why it's price is still staying at 12~13k?

Maybe because not a lot of people have access to them like all the other ores/bars.

Well you need someone to have 85 smithing and someone else to have 85 mining, and they respawn slowly, and there are few rocks, so there are not many people that can gold farm it, unlike coal or iron. Supply and demand: High demand by pkers/most of rs, low supply because of high requirements.

SO what is the reason that players need such kind of bar, what can rune bar be used for, clearly not for training summoning.

They are used to forge rune equipment, which are then sold/high alched?

Actually, individual account wise, there is an almost unlimited supply. World Hop FTW!

Only problem is the Skill levels and the time it takes to actually mine them…I see your point :(

Since you mention that, I search through wikia and find out that smithing 2-hand sword or platelegs is a very nice way to get exp after reaching 99lv , the cost per exp is below 2 gp.

But it isn't worth making them in huge amounts.

Why not?

Basically, Supply is super low, Demand is low, demand is higher then supply, so the price rises, and eventually levels off at 12k. I think super rich people might use these to train skills such as smithing and summoning really fast.

yeah, 12k is probably where even rich people just decide to use something cheaper. RS is actually an alright place to learn about economics ^_^

The more important factor is the profit, not the cost.

At 300k+ gp/hr and 208k xp/hr, it is one of the best smithing training method, as long as you have sufficient capital to purchase few hours of supply. (usually not a problem for ppl with 99 smithing and going for 200m xp–120m is sufficient for 10hr+ of training). The price of 2h is already at high alch price so expected revenue is likely to be stable.

Nice picture, but i suggest changing adament and iron 2-hand sword to platebody, that is what they are mostly used for.

Rune ore is rare, well, there is a limited amount of places you can get them from so the price is pretty high.

Some people do smithing with rune as its the fastest experience. Of course you need a lot of money.
