My area is a Rural area as well but as soon as I got fiber optic it just goes so much faster.

about £20 month my dad pays the bill though lol but it's pretty decent for the speed you get.

Last month, I payed just about that for 1/5 of the speed. :p

For $20 a month :(

Lol here's mine. My family would get Verizon Fios if it was in our area, but alas, it isn't =/. Funny thing is, I have the best ping out of all of you!! ;)

Could be because you live so close to where it is pinging to.

We have the fastest internet we can get using our provider. My dad wants to get faster internet but doesn't want to lose his e-mail from our provider that he uses for nearly everything.

The speed isn't that bad, I can stream 1080p on YouTube but I would really like faster internet.
EDIT: I think we pay around 40€/month for a package including phone calls etc. so yeah :S

I get roughly the same speed and I'm paying the same price.. I live in a village but if you go into the town 5 minutes away I get like 16mbps… I am also closer to the exchange in my village than you are in the town :duh:

Sadly my wireless modem can't compete with my internet, but 2 more dude lives in the house so don't worry we can still use the whole.
I would plug it in just out of curiosity(should be around 70-80(they say)), but that's not how I use it anyway.(and I am lazy)

yeah the main reason for my speeds are that I don't have a master socket :p

I thought Fiber was so much faster xD! Also replace the socket! It's not that hard to do and you can pick one up dirt cheap.

would have to redo wiring too, no master socket = telephone/ internet line is split before entering house. :P

I still think it wouldn't be to much effort for you :P And a fun little project… You should try it and see how you get on with it ^_^ (Don't blame me if you kill yourself doing it!)

Maybe pester him about it! Or just call an engineer out to fix it :) I am sure it wouldn't cost you anything…. I am pretty sure they are "meant to" replace the socket every 5 years!

Damm those are some really fast speeds

Australias fastest speed hardly reach 1.5MB ;(

NBN PLEASE COME OUT(So you dont continuously ask NBN is fibre optics afaik)
