Stupid Internet...

So today, I got back from school to find out my Internet didn't work. When I tried to load a page on chrome, it gave a error page. My Internet works fine on my iPhone and other computers, it's just this one computer. I found a couple malicious programs on my computer, and even with them gone, it still doesn't work! Firefox and Internet explorer can't load stuff either, nothing on my computer can, yet it says I'm connected to wifi with 4 bars. I have tried everything, reboots, system scans, cmd ipconfig commands, disconnect and reconnect, reboot the modem and router, all to no avail. If anyone has tips, they would be gladly appreciated. :D

Do you have an Ethernet cable?
Try to run it via that, and see if it works.

My computer is on the second floor, router is on first. My parents computer is connected with ethernet and runs fine. It's getting pretty late here, I'll reply to y'all in the morning. :)

Could have been one of the viruses. Try updating your network adapter's firmware and see if that helps. Or checking the IPV4 settings to see if it changed your config around at all.

Does plugging in an Ethernet cord allow you to connect?

Does your Control Panel > Network and Internet > Network and Sharing Center, visual map connect to all required locations?
(playing around in here may help)

Just trying to throw some ideas around, not to well educated in wireless internets.

Have you tried throwing it out the window and then reconnecting it after you go pick it up.

While you're at it, check your proxy settings to see if malicious software was redirecting you somewhere, and check your DNS settings (same reason). And maybe even check your hosts file.

Thanks for the awesome replies guys! Repoint is really weird on my phone, so I'll do it when I fix my computer. I might end up restoring back a few says if none of the other suggestions work.

go to C:\Windows\System32\drivers\etc
and open file named "host" with notepad and see if everything is ok there.

Ok, I will in a second. What should be there? Also, I think I should note that some programs run using Internet just fine, such as outlook.

Reboot the router if you haven't already.

Tried it, and my hosts file just looks like an instructions file, every line in there begins with #, I assume thats a comment.

E: system restored to a week back, Internet still won't work. I'm officially out of ideas.

I'm sticking around this thread to see if any of these suggestions work for me :p

I'm having the same problem. I'm connected wired and am having problems, while my family who connects wired and wireless can connect fine. When I take another and connect to my cable it works super fast. Yet when it connects to mine it doesn't work.

My internet at times runs fine, but lately it's just been very, very slow. It says I'm connected but it just doesn't work. Since I am retarded when it comes to computers, my dad's going to have a look at it (he's good with fixes :p). I'll tell you what he does, if anything, to fix it and maybe it'll work for you too!

Question: Can you play games fine but not browse the internet? My explorer/firefox/chrome are slow but if I can load runescape/any game I can stay connected to it. I don't constantly DC/Lag on RS I can play it, but I must reach the game page first.

You do a hard reset of the router? (hold the small button with a pen).
Reinstall wireless card drivers? Are you able to connect to other wireless networks (hotspot from your phone maybe? Your wireless card might be shot)

System restore, not in time like do a fresh install.

What roflmao sounds like my problem. I connected to runescape successfully once, then that page was fine. There was no lag, I could play fine, while other tabs and browsers were shot. I'm connecting using a USB adapter that I just got 3 weeks ago. I'll try a bit of troubleshooting to see if that's the issue. AlsoC I tried troubleshooting, and this time it told me the DNS server isn't responding. Any ideas what I should do?
