Kinda re this: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89708

If I take my SIM card out of my iPhone, will it still work like normal (besides phone service/text/internet of course).

I'm planning to get a Samsung Galaxy SIII but am a bit paranoid about properly backing up my iPhone before doing so.

So could I:
Buy Samsung Galaxy SIII (thus making my old SIM card useless/deactivated).

And still use my iPhone (with wifi) to do all normal things that it always used to be able to do?

This way I can keep my iPhone functional for a while until I sell it, and take my time to properly back up my stuff?

:( I did, didn't see that nice easy page, just a bunch of people asking on forums etc. with 1/2 answers only.
As for backup program (the other thread) there's no 1 super duper program that does it all, so I wanted to see other users' experiences!
D: Thanks.

I went from an iPhone to the Samsung note. My 4yr old now has my old iPhone so yes it definitely still works. I gotta say the transition from iPhone to Samsung wasnt that smooth. It might just be the note thats hard to understand but there wasnt really a seemless plug and play interface. I needed to install Keis to accomplish anything. Of course I start a job a few weeks later and they give me a business iPhone -.-

With iFunbox, it is free and you can explore everything within the phone. So I would highly recommend that. Even operational files which are usually hidden are visible on iFunbox.

And yes, without the sim card, your phone will still work fine as normal. It will be downgraded to an Ipod touch tho

Yes, yesterday i had some issues with my network provider, so i removed the sim from my iPhone 4s and turned it on, so it will work like iPad :) you cant make calls or use internet but if you connect to the wifi you can use only the internet.

You back it up with iTunes, there's a button in the main screen thingy.

If you want some pictures, let me know, I'll get them for you.
