I've never Merchanted before, and if there was ever a time to start, I think its now. I'm looking at putting 40m into Pure ess, these are the charts.

30 Day

90 day

I dont want to put 40m into this and have it drop like a stone. I'm looking to keep my money in it for about 2 weeks, I could go more if I invested a little less. Do you guys suggest this?

I think you are better of flipping. You never know what others are going to do, and chances are that gold farmers will be dumping millions of essence in the G/e because they are scared of getting banned.

Never put more than 25M in one Item. You will regret it lol.

^^^Flipping is my main source of money now :P

I decided to try to flip 6m worth of an item, its green in 30 day, 90 day, and 180 day, and to me, that looks like a good item, :D

For an item to be good to flip, it doesn't need to be rising. You can still make money on items which are falling according to the graphs.

Sorry if I'm breaking all the rules of merchanting, I've never done it before! :p

Footy when you invest into an item you need to do a full analysis of the item.
Who buys pure ess, more than anyone? : Bots

Why? They use the pure ess to make nature runes.
If the biggest demand for the essence dies, then their will be a supply overload or a very small decrease in the supply.

Ended up not buying ess, but think of this aswell. Have you ever been in the essence mines? They are flooded with trial accounts mining ess for 14 days then dumping the ess to there main/selling. I'm fairly sure the amount of miners is higher then the amount of Nature crafters.

I'm in f2p, but I can make about 50k per 10k coal by selling for 5gp more than I bought it for. That's 225k per day in less than 20 min of waiting on a good day.

Perhaps, but I have a feeling the 14 days bot won't be going anywhere. It is the nature bots that will die, and recreating them will be the pain.

for investing in items for botnuke, look at the 180day graphs, u can see prices before first botnuke. example would be chins

as you can see past botnuke they 4x'd in value, which is good :D

They have graphs like this here: http://services.runescape.com/m=itemdb_rs/frontpage.ws

The best items to flip are the ones that you can quickly buy and sell a tonne of, but have a reasonably stable price range. Stuff like consumables are usually good - logs, ore etc etc.

Also some of the higher end items that have a reasonably large price range fluctuation are often not too bad, but they are usually a bit riskier.

For investing pre-botnuke I'd recommend you have a think about what are some items that legit players use in large quantities, but bots are usually the ones to make them.

Things like essence are a good example for something that you probably wouldn't buy.
Who is making them? bots - This is good because supply will drop post-nuke
Who is using them? bots - This is bad because the demand will also drop post-nuke

You need to find an item where the maker is a bot and the user is a legit player.

When you flip, its all about convenience. What are the items you need to have on hand, immediately? Those Items people buy for high. Same way when they need cash, they sell slightly low. Thats your margin.

BTW, there is a lot of profit for Items falling, if you know how to work the system.

It's good to think about the time of day too. Usually in the mornings when people are setting up their bots, they will buy stuff for a high price because they need it there and then. So that might be a good time to flip materials that bots use.

Not that actual kind of graph. It looks like a custom made one, probably on some sort of fansite.

Edit: I think this is the site the graph is from; http://www.grandexchangecentral.com

Flipping items can be items that people don't buy at med. I've been making 25m a day the last few days flipping an item that people buy for under med, unless they are in a hurry ;)

Basic principle is just buy low, sell high.

So say buying… Magic logs at -5% and then selling at +5%?

There are lots of flipping guides on youtube, although to find your buying and selling prices, many people buy 1 of the item for a high price (to instantly buy the item) and note down how much you actually paid. This is your selling price.
To find the buying price sell the item for a low price (to instantly sell the item) and note down the amount the item was bought for. This is your buying price.
That's the simplest way I can say 'how' to flip.
