I was just wondering if it is "legal" to have a Paypal account as a minor?

I mean I know it is possible, (as theoretically, i might have one), but is it legal.

Also just wanted to know if there is any other way to Buy/Sell RSGP, which does not require one to be 18 or older?

Yeah it's legal, just against PP's rules. I'm under 18 and have had my paypal for over a year without issues. It's linked to my debit card and checking account -they don't seem to care as long as I pay their 2% fee :p

Doesn't going against PPl's rules mean that they can sue you/ Freeze your account and assets?

Well as long as they don't find out, theres nothing they can do! :D I've had a paypal since I was 12.

I'm not a legal expert (obviously…) but I don't think they can use you for it, or even want to put in the effort to sue you in the first place. But yes they could possibly freeze your account. Just don't keep a large amount of money in your account and you won't have any problems.

I have used my paypal account since the age of 15 (18 now) you won't get in trouble and really worst comes to worst they will close your account. (It will never reach that point, don't worry)

Lol, the main problem is my folks. They know it is "not allowed" and thus not allowing me to make one without linking it to theirs. Then I won't be able to Buy/Sell RSGP.

Anyone know of an alternative to PayPal, which I might be allowed for?

No just make a paypal, honestly provided you never "leave it logged in, and let your parents go on it" they will never know.

I also wouldn't recommend paypal, but rather western union (but you really need to be 18 for that one)

Just go and buy a rechargeable debit card from somewhere and use that to link up the paypal account with.
I was going to do that to protect myself before I realized how good the community is.

Until I turned 18 (and I made my own bank account etc.)

I used greendot cards, to load my paypal and used a vanilla visa card to verify my paypal.

I made paypal account, sold rsgp for about 80 bucks and then they locked my account, I had my dad call their customer service, response was simple - it was not my account … lol

Yes, I guess thats possible, but how do you verify it? I don't think many (if any) people will want to do business with an unverified person.

This makes sense, but again how would you verify it? Don't you need a routing and account number? (Which I think is on the check? )

It's done automatically, they'll take a few dollars out of the debit card, and then ask you to give the receipt number or something similar.
When you sign up, you can use your real name or a fake one, your real address or a different (although it does have to be an actual address)
This is just what I read, so it could be completely different.

Pretty sure you have to visit your bank for that info or ask the chequing account owner (your parents as you dont know and maybe they will). I too dont have paypal because I refuse to sign up for it with my debit card.

Easiest way I would figure would be online if you do online banking with an account or phone them up if you dont actually want to go meet with them. Otherwise your stuck talking to a branch worker and getting that info for them. I dont know if you have to give a reason for asking.

You go home, register and activate that card with real or fake info, it honestly doesn't matter. At all.
Then you make an account with paypal. In order for it to be verified, it needs a either a credit card attached to the account or a bank account.
The credit card works perfectly fine and does the job. You simply follow the paypal verifying instructions and a few days later, it will be all done.
It's that simple, it in no way needs to be attached to a bank at all. The only real bit of info it needs is a real address, but it doesn't have to be your address… Unless you intend on buying things online where you want it actually delivered to your home.

It's really straight foward. The hardest part is waiting for paypal to verify the card… It takes three days maximum.

Fair enough, but just know that you don't have to be 18 to buy the card. As long as you have the money, it's your own choice, it concerns you only.

That's how I got my account verified :)
