Hey there, switching from iPhone4 to Galaxy SIII in the next few weeks.

Just wonder what is everything that comes to mind that I should back up?
How should I do it.

I DO NOT want to use iTunes AT ALL.

I use google voice for texts, so all of my texts are safe and fine in the cloud.

I used CopyTrans to back up all of my contacts to my computer, I also have all of my contacts on google so I assume I can import from there or something (maybe?).

I can easily copy/paste all of my pictures/videos just by visiting My Computer.

I can email all of my notes to myself.

All of my music is on my computer.

Any way to get a 'list of apps' or something of that sort so I can re-download all of my favorite ones? I guess I can screenshot my iphone app page on iTuness and use that.

Anything else at all come to mind in regards to backing things up that I will need?

I don't know if it's for windows PC's, but I use a program called PhoneView.

Backs up everything on your iPod, iPhone, ect

There's a windows application named iexplorer. Basically what it does it it opens your iPhone and lets you see all the inner files. If there is anything on your IPhone, you can find it with this. You can copy all your apps into a folder if you want, but they won't be usable on your android. The only thing is its a little tough navigating around your inner files, some of the directories aren't well named…

Trust me when I say that you never go wrong with Diskaid for iPhoneBrowser or WinSCP.

I prefer Diskaid.. If you like Command line like I did back in the day, WinSCP is the best for that.

Also I use GMail to backup all my contacts/address book. You can backup anything including music with Diskaid/Winscp.

More Help.
The things you guys suggested seem more like file system explores so I need to like manually dif though a maze of folders and pick tings out?
I'm looking for a program made for backing up, or at least knowing SPECIFICALLY where to find my info on the device to drag it out of.

I went from the Iphone 4 to the Galaxy Nexus S. The telshop spritzed all my contacts from the iPhone onto the Galaxy Nexus S with a special hardware device. I got to hate the iPhone so much, had it for two years, and literally threw it away many times. Dont want anything to do with iPhone ever again! <3 my Nexus!

Ow, and I think you will need to rebuy your apps, not entirely sure here, but I couldnt figure out how to transfer auths from one system to another, because everything was tied to my AppleID, and there was no link to my GoogleId.

For contacts, MCBackup is very good. Its a free app which will back up all your contacts and email it to you. Then to restore, all you need is to get on ur email in the new phone and then it will transfer it over. I am not sure if the Android platform has that app, but it works solid for iphone. And if you want to view files inside ur comp, i recommend iFunBox. Really useful in terms of getting things in and out of your phone. :)
