It makes sense, combat beta stuff + html5 its basicly a new game, why not hype it up as well with runescape 3?

Kinda hoping that too, just like from classic to the current one, not sure how they would make it a bigger change if it isn't linked to EoC though.

If you watched all their live streams they mentioned "RS3" being work on. It is NOT a new game, it is NOT going to be a different game like RSC -> RS2, there will NOT be "RS2" worlds and "RS3" worlds. The game will just be "upgraded" and will be considered "RS3", a new generation to the game and how it is played…
Some things they mention with RS3 it the ability to use WASD for movement instead of relying on the mouse (which I assume takes away the grid like movements), integration into HTML 5 (it should allow better graphics with less CPU usage, resulting in less lag in high graphics).
They mention other things that they plan with it also, those are just the ones I remember off the top of my head. They plan to start integrating it into the game throughout 2013, they said it's their biggest year of game play since RSC to RS2, and mod mark said he was very excited :p
