so I'v got 40m cash and I'm thinking about investing in some fish masks.
they are currently 3.2m on ge and are set to be remove from sof on the 21st? (end of British summer).
Do you reckon they will have a sharp rise once removed?
what's your ideas/thoughts?

People recently dumped them, more people might dump them soon. I'd just hang onto my money if I were you, the best time to buy was when you could get one for 2m.

Santa's disappeared 10 years ago, and nearly nobody was playing back then, but you can just get a few hundred million GP and buy it today. There are so many people playing these days that fish mask will be buyable by noobs 10 year later.

In this case, I might only buy 5-7 and when they rise a good amount. I'm going to sell one and keep one.

21st septemeber. I was planning on buying and selling once ppl start panic buying btw jsut to be a bit more clear

Good job i sold 2 of them when they were rising (Sold 2 @ 5M).

Bad investment (Really, spending 40M on BGS, and selling it today would have gotten you 15M in 4 days.) Fish masks could give you 2-3 mill / year at MAX.

I wouldn't recommend it as a short term investment. I'm fairly certain that they will rise over time, but it's going to be a long process.

Idk I think the item is very common. There is probably 100k+ fish masks in the game I think.. Even i got like 40 of them from SOF.

I'm holding onto mine until next year, seeing what happens. That might because I got them from SOF though, so I'm not really losing anything anyway.

there is no where near as many in the game as you are saying there is.
most of the people who got a fish mask from spins are people who bought lots of spins. they will be worth a good amount of money, i believe over 10m. but that wont be for a year or a few years.

Most masks that were generated by trial accounts were insta-converted to cash :D

Got mine off Sof when they were in the common slot sold for 3m, too many of them to be worth anything. I would only buy them if you plan on quitting for like 10 years+ :P

you can make 100k per flip, but I understand in p2p that is nothing

Is it possible to manipulate the GE?
Say everyone on the forum bought up a lot of the masks and then put them back on the GE for like 500m each or something… Would that change the "worth"?

Technically yes, it would ^^^

That is a very…Mighty way of thinking about it.

I'd expect fish mask to stabilize at 7-8m, maybe even 10m after the discontinuation. There are so many fish masks around b/c of spin buyers/free daily spins that they can't really go up any more than that.

Unless some uber rich troll decides to buy thousands of them and alch them. :D

Same as fish masks at the end of sept. The actual reason half jugs of wine are expensive is because there are so few of them. there are tens (hundreds?) of thousands of fish masks. Therefore, not rare

I have not been following the latest development in items, but if it is true that acquiring Fish Masks will be removed from of the game, and Fish Masks will remain tradable….a new rare item is born! Wow!

This is most likely done to see wether this single item can put a stop to inflation. One Mil Fish Masks at 5 Mil ea = 5.000.000.000.000. 5 Trillion looks large, but that is by far not large enough to stop inflation imho. Anyone care doing some math on rs economy?

So maybe after all they just did it for fun, -weirdo Brittish- and to see what 'll happen after all these years of silence. Ater all, they haven't done this since the santahat, and that has been like, what 8-9 years ago?

yea, we compare it to other rares. but it's a different situation all together. We cannot really predict how this will go, simply because how long ago the other rares were and how much the game and game economy has changed

Yeah, long ago not as many people played which ment less of those items. Over the years more and more people joined who now want the items from back in the day, making them expensive.

We would have to wait forever or those items to go extremely high up in price by new people joing… and wanting a crappy fish mask. It going to take years, unless some rich mofo ends up buying a ton of them. ;)

But I will buy a stack of 100. And after a couple of years see how it goes!

I made a script that would SOF and then record the winnings and make a proggy outputting the estimated profit. I have recently gotten a few good wins like fishmasks, except they aren't good at selling.

yeah you get it by using rake on your farming patch. Jagex made it untradeable after a mech clan merched them b4 free trade.

sold it, it converts to 4.5m and street price is 4.5-4.6 atm
