I'm interested to hear a botting community's take on this.
I for one will try to restrain myself as much as humanly possible, as 2006Scape will actually be fun for many of us to play legit (of that I have no doubt).

The main argument people make for botting in 2006Scape is that Runescape wasn't exactly devoid of bots in 2006 either. The main argument against is that we should try to keep the game as "clean" as possible, and not "ruin" it with bots.

Personally I think that anyone who argues against the existence of bots is a moron, but what about everybody else?

Post opinions, and for/against arguments. I'd love to hear others' opinions on this subject.



On a side note, has anyone though about RWT in 2006Scape yet? The conversion rate between 2SGP / RSGP or even 2SGP / USD?
I'm almost certain that 2SGP will be far more expensive then RSGP as first, then plummet straight down (as with any product that is introduced into a market).

I, for one, am not going to bot 2006Scape; mainly because we have been offered with an amazing private server back from the good ol' times. We shouldn't wreck this opportunity. There is no doubt that there will be botters.

I will bot to have fun when playing legit. I will bot all the skills and use a few accounts to cut yews if they aren't too crowded. Mining guild if they are.

Depends on the experience rate for me, if it's 2x than leveling will be far more enjoyable as you'll power through levels quicker.

For me, it will depend.
I got to level 85 completely legit on WoW, after that I botted for resources.

Maybe I'll do something similar for a while. But I will play legit for a long time.

I will not be playing this at all, there is little to no point playing a private server, from what i have heard, it is not really that much similar to how it was in 2006, and i doubt the people that were playing in 2006 are going to bother starting afresh on a new server, when you already have put so much effort into a proper account. I suppose its a matter of opinion.

tldr imo, dont play unless you are going to play the real game.

I wonder if they're looking for content developers.

To be honest, if you bot on 2006Scape you'll get caught and banned very easily.
Their random events are harder than Jagex's and the actually ban you.

I normally always do the randoms myself & I don't bot when I'm away from comp

To be honest, I don't see what the problem is if we bot skills that are just a pure grind UNLESS you find it fun. Like, we play the game for fun, so why not bot skills we don't think are not fun? Me, personally am going to bot anything non combat.

Truthfully speaking, I know I will bot it sooner or later. Just hopefully, it will be "nostalgic" enough to be later. As for the GP, Hopefully they won't inflate too badly.

I botted in 2006, I probably will bot a server that resembles 2006 to enjoy the experience of when I do play more.
That is if I even play :/, I still am convinced Jagex is waiting for it to launch get popular.. then will close it down.

I also don't see the point in botting in a RSPS. You can never be sure that it won't just go down one day. I wouldn't trust it's long exsistance, like real RS. I probably wouldn't want to play legit, so if I ever want to play 2006Scape, it would probably be botting. But I really doubt that I will be interested.

You must hot have been playing that long then :D if you truly did play any time from 2005-2007, you'll have known how wonderful it is.

Referring to your first point, everyone is always worried about that, but there have been MANY RSPS's that have been managed by MUCH less-talented people and have MUCH less players, and they've been up for a long time (SS, NR, WS, D-H, BS).

I actually have been playing in 2005-2007. I still have a picture fron 2007 in my computer with 72 cooking up :D
Yeah I know but still I can't count as much on servers as RSPSes, plus, it's not real RS, it's like a copy… It's only my opinion.

2006Scape is attempting to be a copy.
RSPS's aren't copies, they add their own content and other things

Idk… It would be the same as using original beats by dre and fake ones. I wouldn't use fake ones. I have the originals. Idk, I just don't like copies/fakes and so on.
Game was good back in the day, and all the updates that I didn't like - I adapted to them easily and it turned out to be better than it was before. :o

Only thing why I like RS in 2006 rather than in 2012 - expensive RSGP. If I was in 2006 now, I would be trying to goldfarm. :P

You make a good point. Not so looking forward to it now. It just wont be the same, simply because I'm no longer a newb.

I agree, it depends how much grinding it takes. I bot RS so I don't have to grind everything. 06Scape will probably be the same. >.<

I really just don't understand the point of private servers for several reasons…

It's not the real RS, it can go down in an instant and never come back, it's not the real RS, and oh yeah did I forget to mention that it's not the real RS? I'm already wasting enough time to bot, why would I want to waste more time to bot something that is fake and won't matter?

I don't know guys, you are all thinking it will be identical but you have to think back to 2006.

How good were you at the game? Myself I was a level 75 with 7m and thought I was hot stuff, I still had a lot to learn and I still had a lot to experience.

Now I look back at the game and I pretty much know every single aspect of it, I grew with the game if I were to go back to 2006… I would know too much, and it simply wouldn't be the same, maybe for a moment but that is it just a moment.

You were hot stuff… gp sold at $5/M back then. But I agree with the rest, it only felt fun because we were young.

We couldn't even get a foreign servers include together, no chance for a private server :P

if some one here makes a script for scape2006 and post it on here, I will personally report anyone who i see using it. Even if I don't do that, trust me the admin at scape2006 will do it.

There was actually a big debate going on with whether or not it should be the old xp rate, or 2x. But they've just decided to keep it as the standard xp rate: http://www.2006scape.com/services/news/newsitem.ws?id=100

I wouldn't do that if you plan to bot. Vault's been around the block a bit. I know for a fact he lurks around on powerbot.org looking for people to ban for rare name selling, account selling, RWT and the like.

I'm going to bot it, the XP will be really slow. Even in Pre-Alpha bots were well moderated(so I had heard), and many were temporary/permanently banned.

Not going to bother botting it or even playing it. 2006 wasn't all that great… I mean it was okay, but I think things were better in 2008 or even in 2003.

I'll do my best not to. I'll try to enjoy it as much as I can without botting. Plus its easier to get caught with a smaller community.

I won't suicide bot on there but I don't have the time nowadays to legit a decent account. I have played on the pre-alpha and it looks pretty promising. Just the old school music gives me a good feeling already :P

I'm probably going to bot some stuff while watching it. I'm pretty sure we will see 2006Scape injection bots? Should be possible and easier than it is nowdays. Some of the old injection code might even work.

Haha yeah, it is actually quite ridiculous that their ban rate is higher than Jagex their ban rate. Oh well :stirthepot:
I think they mainly relied on Report Abuse reports though, if you go to a quiet spot and regularly take breaks I don't think you will get in trouble.

If they just watch the guy's screen for a while they can probably tell. You can usually understand who's botting by just watching them.

And with so few users they should have a high ban rate. if they get more players than legit runescape i'll bet that they'll ban less bots, just from being overwhelmed with abuse reports like jagex probably is.

Read the rest of your post but wanted to comment on that particular sentence.

I have no doubt we'll see 2006Scape reflection bots (something along the lines of old Xotik-Sys) since 2006Scape is a private server and private servers are extremely vulnerable to reflection/injection-based bots.
