Total ban on scripts sales?
As we all know, currently you are allowed to sell scripts as long as it happens outside of SRL, well just as it happens 95% of those scripts being sold are moneymakers (yes, I ripped that percentage straight out of my asshole ), and most of the high profit scripts are either private or only for SRL members.
Now you say "Yeah? No kidding?", well I don't know how clear picture you people have of the goldfarming currently going on, unlike back in the day, there were "big players" running sweet shitload of bots, today theres small players running smaller amounts of bots, however, combined these small players contribute for a big percentage of goldfarming happening in RS.
Many of the goldsales sites no longer run their own botarmies, instead, they buy huge stacks of gold from these "small players" and sell them out for higher price on their sites. Most of these smallscale farmers have little to none programming experience and can't make their own scripts, hell, most of them are nohow even intrested in programming and just want to make easy bucks. I think that if you intend to goldfarm, you should atleast make your own scripts for it.
One should reap what one sows.
This has come for me to suggest total ban on scripts sales under threath of permanent SRL ban if caught. As far as I remember ideology behind SRL was to blend in and not cause damage to the game, which goldfarming effectively does. Especially now since they have announced big updates for RS which most likely knocks off injection and reflection bots out there for some time, SRL will for the time being be the saviorcard for many botters( and goldfarmers ) once more like it was a year ago and many many times before that in earlier cases.
What I am asking is, are we as a community about to hold our colors and take a stand against goldfarming like we did years back with rsdemon reporter script ?

Don't see it happening. Everything here is open source and free etc. etc. users will always be able to write and sell scripts, and as long as there is a demand for them then people will be writing and selling them.
If not under their SRL name under a new name.
And SRL Gold Farming scripts (right now) are hardly a drop in the bucket compared to injection goldfarmers.
But yes, possibly in the future if injection bots are wiped out, then demand for SRL gold farming scripts will rise, but as far as I see/care if people want them, and scripters are willing to work hard to make stable scripts worth selling, then let them sell.

I agree, I don't like to see the script sales especially when simba is in that title.. this also brings a lot of people who have know how to fix stuff around the srl & randoms side.. to not do that, but instead sell half assed scripts (a lot of the time) for money

A lot of SRL farms gold so there is no point of asking here. Even if the scripter says they are against gold farming. Empty words.
When some reach a certain level in scripting it becomes about the money. Seen it enough times.

I enjoy the idea, but I think it's limited to most at best. I don't think other sites will cooperate to the point where they agree to restrict legible programs that help essentially grow their user-base (somebody sells a macro on said-site, the seller draws in some type of attraction to the user). However I do think fighting those that sell Simba scripts with constant updates to Simba itself may help prune the gold farmer-end side, where somebody who doesn't know how to use PascalScript/Lape, will be stumped when they need a simple update to a script for it to work. Given this suggested method of combat would only work for so long in theory, but as everything goes, nothing lasts forever afaik. I do support other methods too, as I just read over Brandon's post, however that will allow more use of the script rather than prevent gold farming.
Which draws me to conclude that planning out a way to combat both gold farming and Simba script selling requires high detail in scheme of things.
Kinda confusing, what I explained, but I think there will always be different point of views, and accounting for them all will help the goal (anti goldfarm/anti simba script selling, whichever / both) become achieved.
Obviously theres always ways around, but doing something against it is better than doing nothing.

I'm more for stopping the selling of scripts.. as far as gold farming goes, we can always do the reporting bot type stuff, but people who do a lot around forums are able to gold farm & save time instead of having to work or something, so they can develop more here
You'd be surprised at how many SRL+ members goldfarm..

I would have been surprised if I saw you vote for this.
However obviously, you didnt even bother to read my post so. Like I said, if you intend to goldfarm, you should atleast make your own scripts for it.

No no, I dont goldfarm and/or support it at all, it's ruining the game IMO.

Not really, no. It's like an arms dealer, you can sell it to both sides, still makes you neutral whether you like them or not.

Goldfarming is ruining the game for the little profit that comes out of it, go work 1-2hours at the local grocery store and you got the same payoff as 24hours of goldfarming has. I may accept a person having one account made for getting gold for the persons own use, lets say you got ur main wich you want to max then you have another account wich supplies with funds. Shay, see yourself as a drugdealer.

People actually enjoy playing this game?
The ratio of users for the free scripts on the forums to the premium script sales elsewhere would be quite large. I don't think it would be an issue.

I think they are fine. Script sellers don't want their script to be too noticeable, unlike scripters at injection communities who don't even bother to use randomization, so it will never be anything near the situation with injection bots. Scripts are sold for 100m+ as far as I have seen, so not many people buy them. There are also occasionally non-goldfarm scripts that are sold.(charm collector and such)
If there is a point in time where every single bot in LRC uses Simba, then we may need to take action, but for now, no.

The whole thing about selling scripts is allowed on other forums is like a parent saying "You cannot smoke, drink, party, do drugs when we see it" ofc we couldnt know for sure who is the man behind the sellers alias but get my point…
I see this as impossible to enforce, while I'm not huge on gold-farming/script selling I see no real harm in either.
Nor do I see a practical way that this can be enforced without the moderation teams of every possible RS market forum getting on board.
Let's say you create a really good gold-farming script for simba and then sell it at another forum without releasing it here and you simply use a completely different username on the other forum. Without the staff on the other board performing an IP check it would be impossible to link back to your SRL account.

Yeah I'm against it, I'd rather no body sold scripts that contributed to gold-farming. I also hate the fact that even though it's someone else's work it's still linked back to SRL and Simba; that's irritating…
But like I'm sure it's been said already in this thread, it's not possible to enforce. If someone makes a script they've every right to do what they want with it; it's theirs, and there's no way we can tell them not to much less enforce a rule.
Believe me DaWu I'm one of those who share the same views, and like you, I'll always be against it. It's just not something we can put a rule on and enforce, it's simply too easy to get around. :/

+1 I also think it is pretty silly to think that there is a difference between how we supposedly work to "blend in" aka having a nature rc script public is a big no no and yet it is ok to sell it for 10mil each (which is not a very big cost for a goldfarmer to prevent them from buying)?
It also bothers me when someone says they are planning to release a golfarming script (nature rc as example again) the staunchest protesters about how it will "ruin the game" are those that are currently selling the same thing at a fairly cheap price, ulterior motives maybe?
I think we should either be one or the other. Either be open to having any kind of script (goldfarming or otherwise) here, or be totally against the goldfarming kind. It's not as important to me that we don't have goldfarming scripts as disabling the greedy double minded script sales.
Just my 2cents

I like selling scripts, makes it easier to make GP if you don't have a good account. Just don't sell uber gold farming ones.

This is really funny.
What both sides are you talking about? By selling goldfarmer scripts you make goldfarmers happy and crash the prices for legal players.
Voted yes, not that it could be enforced :(

Really I would say Yes ban the script sales, but I honestly think the effort required to actually ban script sales would be too much and we could use our time much more efficiently by just letting it go how it is now.
The only way to implement this would be to restrict the source to trusted developers and not teach users here how to script, but instead expect them to learn the language themselves from external sites.
They would then have earn their trust and show they are committed in order to access the SRL Include and script for this forum.
Which would then turn us into a botting site as oppose to a learning forum.

Well I still think that an attempt should be made to either punish those script sales by banning them here or stop caring whether there are goldfarming scripts public here (again most script sales are goldfarming ones anyways). Almost all of us could make a half decent version of the simba goldfarming scripts that have been sold

You're misunderstanding the point of the sentence… The focus was on the part about not liking them, not being a double Agent….
Here's the Game ender. Everyone is allowed to post what ever script they created wherever they choose. Like with the Anti-Leech question before it is entirely up to the creator to do with his work as he pleases.
I voted yes. I have tried and failed at selling a goldfarming script. I only tried to make myself some mills BC I suck at making money. I myself don't goldfarm and have never used a script to make money. Only to save myself some money and to train skills. I think we should try to blend in more and not be targeted as gold farmers. I like the. Idea of boys living in peace with leg its.
