Hello, I used to play and script for RS quite a lot in the past. Quit for few years but i'm back now, only to find the the SCAR community dead? :(
Anyway did some research and found Simba to be the new program replacing SCAR? Read some tutorials here, they are really good. Just happen that there is an ongoing competition here: http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=89414? Hope I can participate and refresh my memories on pascal scripting :)

Yea, majority of the people who used to use scar are still here, the big include (SRL) was what people followed instead of the program running it, because they/we preferred all open source, and the scar coder didn't want to do that.. thus simba was born… and the SRL include is for simba now, and doesn't really work with scar as far as I know (maybe some of it does)

welcome back

Wow, I was curious why I seen people bad mouthing him on other threads.
It really wouldn't make sense for him to NOT use open source.
What benefit is derived from limiting development like that?
That's actually pretty sad he got greedy.
So many devoted members thinking outside the box.
why cut them off like that?
*shaking my head*

Since he was the only one who had access to the source code, the community would have to wait on him for bug fixes and updates. Simba's source is on Github and anyone can contribute bug fixes and updates :) He also used Delphi which made SCAR Windows-specific, while Simba is written in Lazarus/Object Pascal which runs on several platforms.

Well, that's nice to know. I have a machine running Linux. I Was planning on using it, but wasn't sure if it would need to use wine to be able to run?
Thanks Benny I do have a few questions. I have Been searching for answers which I usually am able to Google. (for most of them but not all)
