Sorry, I just have to gush for a second.
SRL was my first scripting language, and learning it seriously changed my major some eight years later, whether I knew it at the time or not.
I picked up SCAR back when it was the only environment for SRL, and back when it was (I believe) in the 2.1x updates. Don't quote me on this, because my memory is crap, but I want to say that it was back in 2007 or 2008.
After a few RS updates and constant SRL updates, I assumed that the entire SRL project was doomed. Granted, this was 2009 or so.
I picked up Simba a couple of years ago (my account has been inactive for 588 days until about fifteen minutes ago, to put that into perspective), and I fumbled about with it until I realized that I didn't have the attention span to keep up with SRL, so I quit again. In the two years that I wasn't writing SRL, I managed to pick up first Java, then JavaScript and its major libraries, then went back to Pascal, then somehow wrapped my head around C++, then dove into HTML and web development, and now here I am back with SRL.
Today, I was messing about with a game that consisted of the player mashing keys and, upon the realization that the keys were only registered when released, I subsequently realized, "hey, I can write an SRL script for this." And then I thought, "oh shit, they've probably died off by now."
And now, as you can see, we are very much alive and well.
Anyway, that's my gush. Roast away. :sasmokin:
