http://services.runescape.com/m=news/mod-mmg-on-runescape-micro-paymentsI found this interesting: 'Over the course of the next few weeks, we will not only be launching our most comprehensive and formidable anti-bot update - which will permanently deal with all types of bots'.
Iirc this was said in March too lmao.
now I’m happy to report that we also have a dedicated Future Tech team working on bringing the game to your favourite tablets, platforms and even smart TVs in due course.
Got me excited.

Nice read. Thanks, I'm looking forward to that HTML5 stuff and of course playing / Botting Rs on tablet :P

I gotta love how they had to think of this and had to question how should we introduce this in baby steps…
For example, we know that directly selling gold, XP or even accounts would generate between 10 to 15 times more revenue than Squeal or Solomon’s Store generates combined. However, we simply won’t do it, because we don’t believe it’s the right thing for the long-term health of the game.

It's all bullshit. I'd give this game another year before it starts losing it's players. You want real RS? 06scape is your last shot at legit RS glory.

I had a iPad2 and I ended up selling it to wait for the new iPad but after I've seen some android devices come out that are perfect size & faster not to mention cheaper my idea of switching units is stronger then ever…. But I'll wait to buy a new pad until jagex releases what tablet will work and which will work best, etc.

There are already loads of mmo's on the play store.
Just get a 2 cored tabled, and it will run fine. (I suggest the Galaxy tab 2 10.1.)

Bots have become a part of Runescape, players have got used to it, to a point at least.
I don't see how they will stop colour bots, although I'm looking forward to the goldfarming bots going down… for about a week.
Richard

I think they shouldn't have ever removed the trade limit. They don't need to find a physical prevention from bots, it's impossible with colour bots, as they are essentially a fair of eyes with a limited brain. What they need is a deterrent, something that actually makes people either want to play legitimately, or there being no purpose behind botting.
On the subject of them selling these spins for that wheel thing and that other shop, I personally think you should only be able to buy cosmetics, like WoW. Makes people jealous, and want things for themselves, brings more into the game. BUT it doesn't create an imbalance.

Where'd you get the last part from? That's not in the original article..
Anyways, I am looking forward to playing RS on other devices :D. Hopefully PS3's will be supported and maybe something for hi-end smartphones.
Am also looking forward to the HTML5 elements they hope to add to the game. The increased draw distance looks really good and will make the game seem more realistic. Hope all goes well! :)

Richard

I know this isn't entirely on topic, but it references the talk about microtransactions, and a potential reason with why they can't sell gold.
They talk about not directly selling gold because it would damage the health of the game, but what if it's actually a legal reason? If you are buying direct cash, then I suppose you could go and gamble using some unofficial form of gambling (essentially something that isn't the SoF), which is gambling your own money effectively, and perhaps there are legal clauses preventing this?

1) html5 has the fullest and fastest support from webkit engine, what runs webkit? chrome & safari… ipads default browser? safari
2) android is quite bloated, sure they have tiny more ghz on their cores, that's needed because android really is a disgrace to linux if anything.

Not just a 'tiny' more Ghz on their cores, but they have more cores. They even have more RAM than any iCrap products. Could Android be more organized? Sure. But it's not Android that's the problem. It's the companies who make the devices who don't know how to integrate it correctly (excluding Samsung).

Doesn't really matter though, because they struggle to run their own operating system where-as apple is over obsessed with fine tuning each OS to its specific hardware.. they damn well better have more ram, or else they would be swapping like no tomorrow .. android is the problem, google has shown that and already discussed that.. they also have to develop it like windows does so it works on 20000 different phones and all their programs work
even the ones with like 2x the hardware of a random ipad run like 10% better.. if apple were to put that much power on their ipads (which they should) they would destroy everything out, easily
also to be clear, I don't like apple (and don't like microsoft either.) I'm just speaking the truth.
If he does go android, a high GHz with good cache processor + dolphin browser he''ll prob get good performance
any other browser, I doubt it

Apple the #1 supporter for html5, webkit engine is built by them, the same engine that chrome runs off of, safari and chrome have the best html5 support out of all browsers.
and apple hates flash & java, they're both crappy so I don't blame them

The thing about color bots, especially the SRL include is.. the methods are how humans identify stuff, so honestly unless you make the game human proof.. there's not much chance to make it srl/simba proof

Indeed, we'll always read the screen as a human would. But if they're this confident of detecting bots perhaps it doesn't have to do with how we read the screen.
I made a post on Sythe before explaining possible detection methods that Jagex might use, and explaining why they would make sense in light of the recent info the Mods have been spreading around. You all can read it here if you'd like:
