Joe has been permanently banned due to RS account hacking and item theft.
As we all know, this behaviour is
unwelcome here at SRL, and it is
extremely saddening to see it come from an SRL member.

It is sad to see a SRL member go down because of the greediness. I will never understand why users and members will take a certain amount of virtual goods above of a respected account on this forum. One of the point we promote our selfs with, and try to stand out of the crowd, is that we have no pixel greedy scammers between us. This however is not possible because humans differ and the online aspect of a forum will always make certain people acting in ways they would not be like in a normal day in there real life.
Today it seems one of our trusted SRL members, joe, has betrayed us and apparently a player by taking their pixels. Let's hope this will not happen in the near future again.

[10:04:50 PM] Shay.: hes been here 191 days, 6.75 posts can be rounded to 7 posts a day, considering a minute spent on villavu for every post, its 7 minutes a day, multiply that by 191 and he's spent 1337 minutes here :x
[10:05:38 PM] Shay.: 1337 minutes is equivalent to 22.3 hours, 50M / 22.3 is about 2.2M/h profit
[10:05:40 PM] Shay.: smh
[10:05:54 PM] Shay.: Not to mention the time he's spent coding etc

It's kinda shameful that this happened, and like you said, from a Member here in the community. I'm sorry to hear that he decided someone else's money was more important than being a part of SRL. Respect isn't easy to come by, and from what I've heard he had respect from others here; I hope soon he realizes it's not something you can gain back from stealing from others.
But on the other hand, kudos to our staff for getting on top of this so quickly. 'Tis nice to know we have a team here on SRL to handle things like this.

Yep yep. IMO, it's not about stopping this individual from ever entering Villavu again, it's about exposing his mistake and disabling his account all together to make him realize how serious it was. If he chooses to return later on another account then hopeful he'll have changed, but should he choose to leave the community all together, so be it.

Why shouldn't a IP ban work? If you use a static IP, like me, you have to contact your provider to change the IP. On villavu, the admins could do a IP-pool ban and even then they won't probably hit a innocent victim.

Because everyone who ever had that IP / were part of that pool would be banned / unable to register

IP banning on a forum where programming and scripting is taught is not that effective. Most of us know how to use a proxy, by not IP banning users it is easier to track their attempts of creating a new account and continuing there behavior. IMO people shouldn't be IP banned.

I was quite disappointed to hear this and his reasoning behind it didn't really change my opinion on the matter.
Nobody here who deserves monetary compensation for their time spent here asks/takes it. We are members of this community because we enjoy it, not for financial gain.
Our gain by virtue of being active here is sharing personal knowledge and experiences here in return for others to do the same. I've learned an absolute tonne in my relatively short time here and appreciate that along with the many wonderful people I have met.
