Jagex taking a stand…hmm

Hi,

Today we have banned a large number of accounts involved with self-titled “botting clans”. All of these accounts have been identified by our new data analysis tool and are 100% guilty of breaking our rules. These accounts have been permanently banned with no chance of appeal.

As mentioned on the forums yesterday, expect more bans and punishments in the very near future.

The use of bots will not be tolerated and will result in permanent action against any accounts found to have cheated in this way.

Seems like they are employing people with common sense now.

i think i saw a thread about a clan full of bots maby they saw that thread and just went and banned them lol "identified by our new data analysis tool" aka looking through botting sites

I read a thread in the high level forum that they banned a lot of the top 200m xp hunter accounts that were all linked to a RS clan…

How dumb could you be to have a massive amount of bots all in the same clan..SMH

Lol I was wondering the same thing. People run around saying "screw this back to botting" and talk about botting through PM's and chat window and expect not to be caught..

well when i got hacked i got a email from them , they said that they will soon get a programm that chan check trades and stuff so they knew wat was stolen and then they can give it back :O somtin like that

How dumb could jagex be to fail to notice that those clan had massive amount of bots all in the top hiscore.

They would never "give back" stuff.. that would ruin the economy even more. People would just fake hacks all the time then lol

I think their tool is actually 9 P-Mods walking around Runescape, finding the obvious bots, and 1 P-Mod linking anything together between them. Whatever they share in characteristics means they can look for the same patterns in other accounts and make similar accusations; enough to earn a ban.

Give one person from SRL the power to ban on-the-spot and that one person will have banned more bots in a day than Jagex will hope to in a year.

I think somewhere its been confirmed that optimus isnt actually a nuke, but rather the "advanced bot detection system" that caught these bots. Optimus has actually been in effect for quite a while now.

That's true… Better start to be careful now :/

Damn, looks like ima take a break from botting on my nearly maxed and start slaying for the next week, see how this pans out. Not risking anything.
Most likely their 'new tool' is a load of bull. I mean how hard is it to catch an entire CLAN of openly botting accounts?? But we'll see.

I don't think sensible botters here have anything to worry about. As a lot of people think, those that were banned were likely to be a gold farming bot army that were obviously botting 24/7.

We have just successfully identified and banned 101 high profile accounts, all whom had achieved over 150 million XP in Thieving and/or Hunter XP, mostly through the use of bots. As mentioned in last week’s “Bug Abusers Banned” news, thanks to a new way of analysing data we have been able to accurately seek out these high level offenders and take immediate action against them.

Many thanks for helping us to identify them through your ingame reports.

Expect lots more of this sort of action in the immediate future. The use of bots will not be tolerated and will result in permanent action against any accounts found to have cheated in this way.

I guess that would be cool, the main use will be for to check for RWT I believe though. xD

So they banned 101 accounts with max xp?

They only did that because they new they'd make new accounts again so they are killing off anything. You can reset them and they get the xp back again, you can ban them and they re-make another account they know they can't get rid of them.


So lets see all this extra money they are paying for programs to detect bots are pointless because you could world hop at blue drags, and green drags and sorce garden and ban 100s by the hour…

You can go to the minning guild and fishing guild and mass ban by the hour…

You don't need to be fancy with high-tech detection systems when its obvious that is botting, nothing is secret at all…Jagex figured they'd make a point and ban 101 random accounts that they know will come right back into their membership program…So no loss there.

I suspect that Jagex is making it sound like they have more capability than they actually do. When they have a new detection system they'll make it flashier than "a new way of analyzing data."

I have to agree with you here, they are just trying to show its players that they are fighting back to keep us thinking that everything is being worked on.

Mean while I'd really like to know what there intentions were posting 101 accounts banned, if you have a detection system so great why not ban the other 25k bots?

As I said before there are places you can find bots, LRC, drags, guilds, LOL its beyond obvious but yet still nothing is done. So for that I must say they have no control an their stunt with banning 101 200m accounts just shows how they have no control; how does a account get 200m xp?? that doesnt happen over night…

Well I really isn't impressed with what they said on the forum.

When they said they banned 101 player, I was like: 'Only 101? '. Then I went to check the highscore, and out of the 10 player that aren't 200m xp in hunter yet, 80% were OBVIOUSLY bot…

Seriously, 101 is a joke number when it comes to bots. Every Tuesday the number of player online drops to less than half. That's over 65k bots.

Bots get logged out. Sometimes scripts break cos graphic changes etc.
