Hey everyone!
I am an old SRL member from way back in the day. This place is a little nostalgic for me, so I check back once in a while.
Recently I had some free time, so I decided to play around with the new interpreter (Simba) and see how the SRL library has come along. A lot has changed since SCAR, and I feel like I have a lot of catching up to do.
The reason I made this post was to see if you guys could give me a starting point.
Primarily, I am interested in what techniques the latest scripts are using for things like walking, banking, etc. I tried writing a little cooking script, but a large part of the SRL library seems either completely broken or malfunctioning.
I know that runescape recently released an update that broke many scripts, so I realize that this may be the reason that many parts of SRL are broken.
Also, is there any documentation for SRL? I used the Simba documentation extensively when I was writing my script, and it was a huge help.
Thanks for any advice/tips,
WhoCares357
http://docs.villavu.com/Here's the doc.
For walking, SPS, ddtm, TPA and radial walk
For item recognition: Bitmap, DTM, TPA
You could also try Object DTMs for walking/position finding.
Heya there WhoCares long time no see. I remember being a little leecher back when you were around. Probably one of the first leechers on villavu. :)

Well first you'd have to make sure you have everything setup properly to begin, so I'm attaching my personal "Script Base".
SPS is probably the most common/easiest to use walking method, tut here:
http://villavu.com/forum/showthread.php?t=71461Useful functions:
WaitUpTextMulti
WaitOptionMulti
WaitFunc
IsMoving
InvCount
GameTab
Just go to C:\Simba\Includes\SRL\srl\core and explore. Most functions have an description above them so most things should be self-explanatory.

Hello! Yea a lot of changes, one of the cooler ones is runescape says "updated" after 6 hours no matter what now so the work around is very fancy :P

Welcome back, I suggest you look through working scripts once you feel you've got the hang of the include. You understand things much better when you see them in use.

@eska and Brak:
Thank you for the link to the doc and the techniques.
@Nebula:
Thanks for the list. I actually did what you suggested when I was writing the script (browse srl files). It is much quicker to do it with some api docs, though.
For walking, SPS was actually the first thing I tried. I stopped using it (added a fallback, that is), because it only worked 5 out of 10 times. Half of the time it returned true when it had not even clicked on the minimap. I do like the concept of it, though. Maybe I'm just doing something wrong. I'll have to look into it some more.
Also, I didn't know Simba supported function pointers. Very cool :D. This will be much easier than writing a timeout loop every other line.
Hello WhoCares nice to see you again!
I suggest you to take a look in other peoples scripts and see how they do it :)

I actually tried it recently. Unfortunately it isn't compatible with SRL at the moment. Looks like a huge improvement over Pascal Script, though.

program new;
{$DEFINE LAPE}

SetupSRL;
end.
Exception in Script: Duplicate declaration "ActivateClient" at line 38, column 29 in file "C:\Simba\Includes\srl\SRL.simba"
I compiled the dlls and put them in ~/Plugins (and I restarted Simba), and I merged SRL.simba, SRLLape.simba, and the core, misc, skill folders. Did I miss something?

Just remembering your smither ;) Welcome back.

Nope. I think there was another WhoCares when I was around (without 357).

I remember you! Welcome back man :) You'll find a lot has changed, but at the same time, deep down the community is still pretty similar.

It is indeed an error in srl their side. Line 38 should be:
Procedure ActivateClient; {$IFDEF LAPE} override; {$ENDIF} begin end;

Yep for Lape I posted the fixes yesterday here:
http://villavu.com/forum/showpost.php?p=1085887&postcount=12
I'm not sure that the fix about replaceWrap actualy works.
It doesn't make much sense to avoid calling replaceWrap since the function has been corrected in SRLLape.

You'll have to ask Nielsie, the only change I made for the parameters of that line was removing the -1 at the end. It's more of a fix for SMART V8.0+.
Welcome back, the entry won't be that hard :)
