Hey,
Just wanted to share my progress with you all. I've been working on this for past few months now. Soon ready to have some kind of beta release.

So I don't know anything about OpenGl, how does it work for runescape botting?

Very impressive. What do you intend to do with it? I mean, start a new bot site like tribot? Just share it with srl? something else?

From: ssshhhaaa
So I don't know anything about OpenGl, how does it work for runescape botting?

Well first lets explain how different bots works.

  • Injection bots: Epicbot, powerbot, rarebot, etc
  • OpenGL/DirectX bots: Tribot, now this, and also some more user like brandon and mato working on their version.
  • Color bots: Simba, RiD etc
  • Packets bots: None that I know of (very rare)

Lets see how it works. Consider the following image. (yes I made it using paint, it's just to give you an idea of how it work)

This is how runescape 'works'. Jagex's code decide what needs to be displayed on the screen. It then uses openGL, directx, or software mode to send information to the graphic card/cpu.

Injection works at the 'jagex's code' box. They hack it and find how things work inside it. This mean they have access to pretty much all variables.
Color bots works at the 'screen' box. It looks at the screen and find colors.
OpenGL bots work in the middle. It intercept the calls jagex's code makes to the graphics card using OpenGl. It has most of the advantage of the injection bots, while keeping the advantage of the colors bot.

Main advantages are::
  • No downtime after runescape updates (as opposed to injection).
  • Object finding nearly as easy as injection.
  • Resistant to bot nukes (as opposed to injection).
  • Unique items ID (like injection).
  • ###Random solving###, almost as good as injection. The only one that would cause problem would be the mime, since openGl bots can't detect animation like injection can AFAIK ***See note

Main disadvantage are:
  • Object must be on screen to be detected (as opposed to injection, where it only need to be 'loaded') ***See note
  • Walking almost as hard as color, but *might* be as easy as injection in the future. *** See note
I can't really think of anything else right now…

*** Correction by drizilc:
From: drizilc

1. Object doesn't have to be on screen, there's a area on what everything is "predrawn" out of screen
2. It is possible to detect animations, btw. Mime is the place where I'm working it out.
3. 50% correction:
Walking, pretty hard to make but i've already got a solid plan how to implement it. Probably one of the most important things on my todo list.

OpenGl

OpenGl everywhere

Looks like its working well. I can't wait for lape & openGl, should make our life so much easier.

I'm kind of left behind in this OpenGl thingy, Is this like a client where you would get to play any script. Kind of like injection bot clients?

In general, the video is reminiscent of a sources PowerBot or something similar. Java is not able to work directly with OpenGl.

You hook the opengl driver functions that do all the drawing, then the bot can basically see everything your graphics card can.

Yes it can work with opengl as seen on the video.

I'm using my own JNI wrapper to work with opengl.

in easy to understand: opengl is written to like memory is written to.. or pretty much any type of API, thus everything has a unique "ID" and I'm sure you can figure out how that would make stuff easy for us

Ok thank you, I now have an idea what it is. Thanks to eska too who put that little explanation there.

In example in my object api:

findNearest(id).click();

or

GLObject target = Objects.findNearest(id);
target.click();

example usage:
(Everything is not totally correct, wrote from memory)

findNearest(id).click();
waitFor(id, IS_NOT_PRESENT);
inventory.interact(id,MENU);
menu.hover("drop");
waitFor(id,IS_PRESENT);
Mouse.click();

that would in example:
  1. click a ore to mine
  2. wait for player to start mining
  3. hover item to drop
  4. wait for player to stop animating
  5. drop the ore
  6. repeat

Thanks alot for a informative response!

Only two things to correct:

1. Object doesn't have to be on screen, there's a area on what everything is "predrawn" out of screen
2. It is possible to detect animations, btw. Mime is the place where I'm working it out.

50% correction:
Walking, pretty hard to make but i've already got a solid plan how to implement it. Probably one of the most important things on my todo list.

And for the what are my plans for it:
Some sort of monetization i'll have to utilize, because I'm working on this full time. Reason: have to keep my kids fed.

It will be released under my company name in the near future. That should be enough after people that are interested have followed the last phases of development before release.

For the fake part:
I'll soon probably upload a video where I solve the next random (code it etc)

Mat

2012-08-10 17:30:57

So why are you posting it here?
To draw people to your Company (Site)
When it released?
Mat

drizilc

2012-08-10 17:35:42

Posting it here just that people get to see what I've done. I've been lurking around for so long and never had anything worthy to say really, now I did have something to say. I will not post any direct links to my company website

And when I post stuff and make videos I see mistakes / features missing I didn't see before.

Mat

2012-08-10 17:38:45

I still, don't see a need to post something in R&D that has nothing to do with Simba / SRL.
As its completely Closed Source from what your saying, and not going to have any link to here.
Might just be me.
But from the video's it still looks good, Similar to TRiBot.

He work on this full time. He doesn't owe you anything.
If you are house builder, I wouldn't expect you to build my house, for 2 months, for free.

This guy is building a bot from scratch and all by himself. It's just normal that he want to make some money out of it, or at least make back some of the money he lost by just being alive while making it.

It's also normal that he fears that his work risk being stolen if he post the source.

Conditions to recognize font textures -> generate font. Basically working with the font as a whole. That way even if they add a new one suddenly, it will be recognized as a font.

If that didn't satisfy as a answer I will try to explain better when I'm in my work "box" (literally a box) working.

Real contributors will be rewarded to drag them in and keep them in. No one wants to pay to contribute and make someone else make money without any added benefits for him/herself.

And thank you for your feedback!

The monetizing part is to keep me working on this full time. Have to feed the kids.

I used to script alot for other bots, but I feel like nowadays the updates etc. aren't consistent enough with other bots. I want to keep the progress professional (regular updates, solid plan to recover from changes in game or nuke).
