We have recently fixed a GP bug related to the money pouch, and its use within the Duel Arena and the Crucible. Specifically, the bug was only found by players with maximum cash stacks and so is limited to a very small number of accounts.

And one of the players banned is:
DeadEternity 2496 Total (2 200m xp stats) 462 Days Played

Just few months ago some ppl lost millions due to the qbd/pest control graveyard glitch and they were not able to refund/rollback anyone, but now…
Thanks to a new way of analysing data we can be very sure who was, or was not, abusing the bug. We are 100% sure that the actions we have taken are therefore accurate and we will be using this new data system to help us deal with other issues in the very near future.

That's cool to hear but could the implications be that they can now easily detect goldfarming, gold purchase/selling as well? (given that they are able to analyse data of players trading)

And another interesting claim:
For those of you concerned about the rare objects being removed from the game after the bans and rollbacks – don’t be. We have several clever and fair ways of making sure that the numbers of these rares (like party hats) remain the same.

The only sensible way that (i can think of) it can maintain the numbers of rares is to artificially create them and distribute via the GE, which implies that even after the free trade update, ge price mechanism is still not left completely to market forces.

And if what they claim is true, that they managed to track down every account that abused the glitch (including mules, and possibly gold buyers that purchase large amount of these glitched gp as well?) price of RSGP is likely to rise steadily, as its supply now would be even lower than before the crucible glitch due to these accounts (with originally non-glitched max cash stacks) being banned, ceteris paribus.

(2 200m xp stats) = 2 stats with 200m exp, not 2.2b total exp.

Oh lol no wonder why there is a space between them :duh:. They are still accounts played for over 300 days (suomi only have 1000 days of played time). Probably the highest xp/lvl accounts ever banned in RS history.

I gotta feel a little sorry for these guys but at least the price of gold will return and increase slightly.
The act that they can do easily find mules and other linked accounts worries me :S

If Jagex wanted to do anything, they could just go to PA or any other large gold selling site, "buy" a large amount and ban the trader+whoever up the chain gave it to him.

Harry, I support this but again. I am pretty sure if Jagex got to do this, they will keep it to themselves and ban all these users. They won't tell us to be warned.

I'm very very sorry for those people actually, I mean, they shouldn't have abused the bug, but a perm bann??
They take time to find out who abused this bug, which they created themself but don't take the time to go to chins and bann bots there.
Sad

Jagex loves to shout about banning bots / rwt'ers, even if they didn't give details, they would at least say that they have a very effective method…

Most sites have in there terms of service that Jagex employees arent allowed, although im not so sure on the effectiveness on this.

Couldn't they just look at the main's ip address and track all the other accounts he uses to that? Then they could check to see how much money each of those side accounts has and compare it to what level it is. So if a low cb lvl has over 100mil on it, ban it.

They were abusing the bug to create billions. I doubt they just handed other people money, most likely planed to sell them for a VERY good profit.

They probably can't do that due to legal issues? Most other mmorpg games could have done the same but i've never heard of that happening. With SOF (and other micro-transactions on other mmorpg) there would be no reason why they would not want to drive out these competitors (gold sellers), so there must be some constraints on their side.

Because there are way too many bots than bug abusers, and they can create account faster than jagex can ban.

Banning bug abusers also serve a general deterrence, like when this bug was leaked to the public, most ppl do not dare to abuse it due to previous incidents of Jagex perm banning bug abusers, whereas in the case of botters, they are simply not deterred by the risk of getting ban because it's much easier to bot it back (bug abuser accounts are usually of high stats/wealth–in order to abuse the bug, so they bear a much higher opportunity cost)
