Just curious as to what desktop modifications you guys are running and what your thoughts are on the ones I am currently running. Would love to know if anybody has got better alternatives to what I am currently using/a program I've not heard of. :)

Current setup -
Rainmeter: CPU monitor, calendar, disk space, all that jazz.

RocketDock: Mac style application bar

VirtuaWin: Multiple virtual desktops

Rocket dock: I use it all the time. It's awesome.

Rainmeter: I had it installed… but it's eye candy and I wasn't using it so I unistalled a few days ago.

Aura: Aura is application that calculates average color of desktop background image or active window icon and sets it as Aero Glass color. It works like color hot-track in Windows 7 taskbar.

So basicaly it just adjust the color or your taskbar in relation to your desktop so it looks neat. You don't really notice it because it looks natural but it's a nice touch.

Also you left your IP in there and now I know all of your secrets. I'm taking first flight to australia to black mail you.

I used to use Rocket Dock, but found I had no real use for it!

Currently I don't run any deskop mods but if I get bored I might start messing around with some again!

tis a bit unorganized atm but http://puu.sh/P3YX

E: Eska, I might have to try that Aura program!

@Eska - Whoop! Deleted, lol.
I like to keep an eye on how my CPU etc are holding up with whatever I'm running at the time, so I check on it fairly regularly.
I use RocketDock because I don't have it run on start up and so my desktop looks unbelievably clean. Plus, it keeps all my programs in a nice neat line.

Anybody know how to change all of my folder icons? I'm trying to make everything black, I've found a couple of Icon packs that I like but can't figure out how to swap them all over..

Had an image in OP, but I left my IP adress in it. So here is one without my IP in it :)

My desktop background also scrolls through ~100 different backgrounds as well.

Nice I was thinking about downloading a desktop virtualisation program just a few minutes ago.

Guess I'll try this one.

it takes customization to a whole new level.
You can assign rules to program windows based on titles automatically assigning them to a virtual desktop or bring them to the front, etc.
It also adds a new context menu when right clicking the pane of any window, with this context menu you can do powerful things to windows like change transparency, send to desktop etc…

I really love dexpot and have been using it for years!

Seems like despot don't like it when I put SMART on another desktop. After a few seconds it pops back up in desktop1

Edit: I think it's some configuration issues. I'll mess with it a bit and see if I can fix it.
Edit: Seems like smart needs to be minimised to not mess it up.

yes, but that is an issue with smart NOT dexpot (SMART uses alt-tab to bring it to the front)

In dexpot you can assign a rule to windows based on there title and force them to a virtual desktop. if you can't figure out how let me know!

I assigned smartremote to desktop2, so far so good.

Edit: Nope :(
Edit: Well the good thing is that they stay in desktop2, but after a few second it switch the desktop for me. Trying to find a way to not force switch.

again, this is a SMART bug, I highly doubt you can, but try to convince benland to change the hacky way he activates the client :P

Well I'll just keep my Smarts minimised then.

I'm getting performance gain using dexpot??
I was around 45-55% cpu usage with my 6 bots. Now I'm 30-40%.

Wierd.

Edit: I just noticed… each of my simba use around 400mb, and the one that use the most is 693mb. Seems like a lot to me. I don't know if it's because of dexpot though never noticed before. (possibly because I got 32gb of ram and don't give a damn)

Edit: Found a way to keep SMART from switching the desktop automaticaly in Dexpot: Settings -> Plugins and Extras -> Behavior of windows on other desktops: Switch it to 'Do nothing'.
