Im making a big flushing toilet, and I need my sticky pistons to be engaged, and when i push a button, I need it to disengage. Can someone show me how to do that? thanks
put a inverter (if you want it to always engage and only disengage for a while) or a lever with a inverter if you want the lever to do both engagement and disengagement.

But I need my whole contraption to be powered by one push of a button. If this is the only way, ill just use a lever for this part, and a button for the rest. I thought there was a way to do this by stacking redstone torches, but i cant get it to work.
you need to create a memory to hold it. Known as adders
http://www.minecraftwiki.net/wiki/Tutorials/Advanced_Redstone_Circuits#Full_Adder_2But if you want just to flush it for like 5 seconds and then close it by it self, a bunch of dioide (with delay could do the trick).

Whoa, never new minecraft could be that complex. I got it to work, just pulling a lever, waiting 5 seconds, then pulling it again. Thanks for the help!

^I googled it, waay past my redstone skill level. I can make pistons go, and make landmines… not much else!
