In Need of Solid Computer Security Recommendations Anybody?

Okay, so yeah I've just obtained a Trojan from a drive by ad or something.. was really weird, I'm lucky my pp hasn't been hacked yet etc because I have been pretty slack on Anti-Virus and things since I thought it would be okay as long as I don't download anything untrusted but I was very wrong.
I've heard that only 15% of Trojans are only detected by the Anti-Virus Programs around the world.. which is a real problem.

I am thinking of using Zone Alarm or something like that a decent Firewall Blocking IP In and Out for my main Computer and then Allowing it for a Virtual Machine to Browse the net etc so that way I'm secured right? or am I wrong again because their seems like theirs always a way around something these days one way or another..

My personal favorite is Comodo. Has different modes you can set based on the state of your system, and its free.

You could obviously just go Linux.

Get a Mac/Linux running as your main OS. Dualboot/VM Windows if you absolutely need to use it for certain tasks.

If you have the CPU + Ram spare, run a VM with a "User" account inside the VM and use that to access the internet since most viruses wont be able to function due to having 'user' rights and not Administrator rights.

I personally found that as long as you don't use ie, and sometimes run malware bytes you are ok.

He is living his life to the fullest by doing what he enjoys: scripting.

I've personally always used McAfee and haven't had any problems.

Even if the trojan is undetectable atm, your av should be able to detect it in a few days. It is very unlikely that the client will update the trojan.
Was it a runescape related ad?

malware bytes + microsoft security essentials

guys, just because YOUR virus protector comes up with no viruses, doesn't mean your computer is clean.. I could make a scanner that didn't scan for anything, and said your machine was safe.. it'd work for years until you got some malware that downloaded more crap

other than what I said above, (which is 100% free and works as good/ better than all paid virus protectors) I would definitely run Linux with a windows VM that only has "user" permissions as suggested above, and if all you do is script you don't even need windows

As said before malware bytes is a good program. It is a good thing to have running along side any firewall to help out, it also block websites from trying to gain access to your computers data(most seem to be Chinese) lol.
Do a review on all the anti-virus programmes out there and you could then decide which you think is better.
I'm using 'AVG IS 2012' and 'MalwareBytes'.

Well if your favorite RS private server got hacked and replaced by a infected applet, wouldn't you give the applet permission?
