Dear Customer,

We have strong evidence that you may have attempted a transfer of RuneScape accounts or traded virtual items outside of the game environment.

Real-world trading destroys the economy of RuneScape, violates your agreement with us, and any player that continues to engage in the illegal activity has no place in our community.

All of your accounts, main and otherwise, are now on our watch list and will be monitored for real-world trading. Regardless of who you are or how long you've been with us, if you decide to real-world trade ever again we will have no hesitation in: (1) permanently removing your account from our wonderful community in order to protect Jagex's rights, and (2) naming you as a defendant in Jagex Limited v. John Does, which is a lawsuit based on antitrust law violations that is currently pending in the U.S. District Court for the Central District of California (Civ. Action No. SANC-V12-00972-CGC).

If you decide to ignore this email and instead continue Real-World Trading, we (Jagex Ltd) reserve our rights to pursue statutory damages against you for between $200 to $2,500 per act of past, present, and/or future real-world trading in accordance with 18 U.S.C. 1304©(2).

In addition, new infractions have been added to your RuneScape account. If left unchallenged your account will be temporarily or permanently suspended.

Please complete the following security form to monitor your account's status or to appeal the infractions you have recieved:
http://secure.runescape.com/ErU1RDrFz7/m=weblogin/g=runescape/index.ws?mod=offence-appeal&ssl=1

Please note: Due to recent technical problems, some accounts were unfairly punished. Most of the void infractions have been removed. You should visit the appeal section to appeal any unjustified infractions received due to system errors.

Sincerely,
Mod Mark.

Wow, this is based on the letter that Jagex sent people after the bot nuke that warned them against botting.

Definitely a phisher.

The sad thing is they probably do get a lot of people, the email is well written so will trap young players.

The best phisher I have seen is a link to a fake thread on what looks exactly like the runescape forums but ofc is a fake saying he is giving away all his items to the people who reply first. I almost fell for it because the runescape forum links can be long and complicated but I looked at the URL and it didn't look right. I then set up a bot that entered loads of fake usernames and passwords so the person phishing would have to trawl through a load of duds before finding the odd genuine one haha :f:.

You would be wrong sir. If you have an email verified account the only way to change your password is via an email now.

lol how do you think this is real? unless your trading bills a day you think they're gonna waste the time a resources sueing you for RWT? lol no they will ban you the second your suspected and move on. your not gonna get a warning letter and not recieve an infraction on your account. and chances are your not even going to get a warning letter, just gonna log in and find "your account has been disabled check inbox for more info" or watever. i doubt your going to or have recieved an infraction. they're actually going to go after people who are making hard cash because thats how they get the huge lawsuites that are actually worth they're time. they're not gonna spend thousands of dollars in legal fees, and months of time and effort in and out of a courtroom for 1 RWTer. and also they're not gonna get a judgment where you paying a crap load of money because you sold some gold. they will base it on profits you made, seriousness of the crime etc etc. if by some chance you did get sued your pay like a cupple grand and even then you can tell the judge to lick one, maybe spend a few months in your local jail or get bail and prob end up with probation after sitting on bail for a year before your crime will go to trial or sentancing.

Lol the easy way to tell if these are fake are if they say "Customer" and not your Username at the current time. In a jagex email they will ALWAYS say your name.

i get like 2-3 e-mails of this daily, my great question is how the f*** they got my rs email since i dont use anywhere else besides rs?

makes me believe rs database was hacked and copied, at least the ones with the rs emails, either that or jagex sold our emails like facebook does, only 2 explanations to why the hell they have my email to try to phish

Most of these e-mails usually end up in my 'Junk' folder anyway, I don't seem to have a problem with them.
