Hello Mates, I have a situation where a kid is threatening my brother by DDOSing him since he got hold of my IP, is there way I can change it?

Best option is to power-cycle your router\modem. If that fails, call your ISP up and ask

Eh, seems like a lot of work :( any programs that can do something about this?

Could use a VPN but then he can still DDoS you offline

Just pull the power cord out for 10-20 minutes and put it back in

There are most likely guides for it on the net. There's guides for everything on the net.
It should be fairly simple to reset your ip… What sort of router/modem is it?

Assuming the IP is your own home, there's not much to do. If you have a dynamic IP, you could turn the router/modem off and on. Other than that, not so much. Trying to bring a router down is a piece of cake and it is most likely not harmful. He sounds like a prick trying to be badass.

These days, the moment someone says ``DDoS'' to me I pretty much ignore them.

Yes house router, and well thing is what he did was he DDoS'd me and I had gotten connection lost on Runescape and I was forcefully logged off :S.

And okay, I sure will just take out the plugs and replug it and see if it will do the magic :).

Thank you Gentleman.

Just remember to wait at least 30 seconds in between turning off and on your modem & router. Some manage to hold your IP over short disconnects.

What a pig.. I hate kids like that.

As said, Unplug it and wait a good amount of time, hopefully it will switch your IP

if not, you can spoof your routers mac address that the external network sees, which will in turn change your IP address if your ISP is dynamic (almost all are).. usually you want the router not connected to the internet when changing that part

Change your mac address and your IP will change for sure. To do this, right click the wifi icon on windows, press network and sharing center, change adapter settings. Right click your current adapter, press properties, press configure, click the advanced tab, change the network address to: 120000000000. It'll disconnect you from the internet for a couple seconds. Perhaps even a minute or two. When you do reconnect, your IP should be different unless you have static assigned in which case you won't be able to connect to the net unless you reconfigure the router to use your new IP or set it back to how it was by clicking not present.

GL.

EDIT: This is how mine looks. Hopefully your wireless card supports mac spoofing. You can only set it to all 0's on linux. Windows will force you to set the first two octets or whatever it's called (I forgot my networking stuff from class lol :c)..

I'm not sure if that's a good idea. First of all, it'd have to be the mac address of his router, since we're not talking about LAN. Secondly, most providers whitelist MAC addresses, so his internet will stop working.

If you have a dynamic IP then it shouldn't be hard at all, just a simple power off/unplug and wait a few minutes.

But I suggest this…

Oohh he wants to change his Router's Mac? That's not possible unless it supports spoofing but the example I showed is how to change your internal card's mac and it works fine without any configuration unless you have a static IP. If his buddy has his router's mac then either way he's screwed lol.

If its a dynamic IP address, restart your router/modem.

If it is a static one, you cannot change it. Call your ISP or something.

Unplug your router/modem for 30 minutes, should change it. If not, some take 12 hours to change, so unplug it overnight or something.
