Thank you, SRL

This is very much long overdue, but I'd like to thank you, SRL, for getting me in to programming with your loving and accepting community. I have not found a community like this anywhere else I've ever been in the entire 9+ years I've been using the internet.

I'll be attempting to get my bachelors in CS. After that I'll be moving on to doing what I love most, programming. Whatever job that lands me, who can say, but I can definitely say that it was possible because of SRL.

So, thank you, SRL.

I must say my thank you seems to be overdue as well ;o
I'm currently applying for a degree in CS & Engineering, would've never done it if not for SRL. So… Thanks!

You forgot a mainloop.

begin
case Random(2147483647) of
0:YoureWelcome;
1..2147483647: Writeln('Youre not welcome.');
end;
end.
(yeah, I know I'm funny)

But in all seriousness hope you get a nice job somewhere, there's a huge demand for java programmers.

Well done RISK, good to hear :)
Wow your all doing well haha.
My mate keeps harassing me to go uni to do CS and was thinking about enrolling next year as the contract for current job will be ending at the end of the year.

Thanks, everyone and good luck to you all too! :) It's amazing to see that SRL has inspired so many intelligent people to go on to what they love doing, too.

Guess this page creates light in a lot of places…

Best of luck with your educations!

I'm currently majoring in Accounting, but I, too, am highly considering going for my Masters degree in Computer Science/Engineering. I just got to SRL too late for my major to be in that :(. If I wasn't so far in Accounting I'd probably switch.

Accounting has a great future, you should check out MIS since that has a big deal with Business/Computer in it (dual-major: Acc & MIS).

I'll start on my study for the bachelor in information technology (not sure if it's the same as computer science, translation from dutch is information technology) in september, also mainly because of my experiences here at SRL :D
Thanks!

Proper translation is probably IT (informatica in Dutch?). Pretty sure you meant that, I'll start on my IT study next year aswell :P SRL has made it clear :)

Computer Science is Informatica, at least on university level. I think ``Informatics'' also works.

This is why I've been here so long :) Awesome community, I haven't found one like it anywhere else on the internet.

I started playing RS almost 7 years ago. Not that I admit it to any of my IRL friends, but it's really funny to me that I am where I am now because of RS and this community. I would never have gotten into computers, and now CS & engineering major in college, if it weren't for Kaitnieks/MITB/Villavu.

All those times my parents told me I'm wasting my time and braincells because Runescape will never get me anywhere…. haha.

Same story here. Fell in love with programming because of scar and SRL and now I have been studying computer science for 1 year. Although currently I'm not studying because of compulsory military service.
