First of all I would like to say this is not this or I would have just bumped it.

This is a different proposal.

My suggestion is a new form of anti-leech/promotion/make Junior members worth something.

Right now Junior members is an auto-acquired rank, which has it's problems because people can spam to achieve it, or just overall have a crappy attitude and still get it.

It has been said that one of the biggest reasons to vote for a person to become an SRL member was because of their attitude along with a script. I think the attitude should also apply to junior members. Having said that I don't believe that junior members need to be voted on, but at the same time that could be good. Which is where I want some feedback for this idea.

My main suggestion is this:

Achievement based Jr. Member Rank

Some points to show you what I mean:

Possible achievments I've thought of:

• Still could be auto-given, or could have a vote
• Creating an SRL Stats Account and Connecting it
• Adding a commit to their SRL stats account
• rep + from an SRL member for a good post
• Achieve a post count of 100
• Exist for longer than 2 months time
• Posting a progress report on a public script thread

This system could also have negative achievements like:

• Double posting on a thread
• Viewing a script but never posting a report (or not even posting)
• rep - by SRL member +

Those a just a couple ideas.

This would make the whole concept of the old Jr. members script section viable again, or could just give new life to the rank. IMHO it would be nice to see the Jr. Member rank and know it was EARNED and not given.


As for how this would be implemented I'm not 100% sure, but seeing as we have some extremely gifted programmers here, and the site uses vbulletin (bound to have a plugin) I do not see it being extremely difficult to create.

Thoughts? Suggestions? Options? Flames (please no)? Have at it!

We all tell them "Rep dont count fo shit" but now it will?
And the rep+ will be hard to get as many members are on high horses and rarely give out rep at all, and usually negative. But I agree with just about everything else.

I'm not saying have it count for like every time someone gives them rep. Just like a first time achievement, sorry I should have cleared that up.

Viewing a script but never posting a report (or not even posting)

I disagree with this. I look at tons of different scripts to see how new scripters are coming along, but that doesn't mean I use the script, nor post on the thread.

I agree with this, apart from the not posting on a script thread one, everybody does that, maybe an "unhelpful feedback" one for people who post
