I wouldn't mind as long as it is purely cosmetic.

The Solomon General Store already came out and yes, they are selling cosmetic items, emotes, animations, and titles for real money. You get 200 free tokens to start off with . Unlike the squeal of fortune however, the items and rewards are only cosmetic. I still don't agree with them selling stuff for real life cash, but it is better than what they're doing with the squeal of fortune

Half the jagex company was bought by new people and it seems they have a new income strategy….we saw it on SoF and now this….I believe they'll be selling…
edit : oh so it's out…I had the msg coming soon.
This is for Skill animation updates, titles, emotes, and purely cosmetic updates.

I can (and have) put up with a lot of things from them, but they are pushing the limit. I'm glad I am almost maxed.

Im okay with this update, many non-micro transaction games have a system of being able to buy cosmetic items for IRL cash. The issue I have is that jagex moving way too fast in this direction. If this is the final move for their 'premium' services then I'm okay but if thy go any further I know that I and a lot of other people will be quitting as I have no intention of playing a game where IRL cash = power in a game-indorsed way (fine with illegal gold selling, as long as the game creators do not endorse it)

Completely agree. It seems they don't even check these updates for bugs anymore. ;)

Well at the end of the day–you are playing the game that once wasn't driven by money, and now that does.
It costs money to maintain / update, etc.
If Jagex opened up a GP shop I'd not be hurt, why would anyone of you care? It opens the playing feild now–
its kind of like legalizing marijuana; if the goverment would legalize it then the goverment would be the one to make the money not the dealers… For us its gold farmers, if GP websites can't make money they'll go else where and do something else; right now we know plently of GP gets bought every day so why would anyone be shocked if Jagex wanted in on the money?

^^lol somebody got stoned a little to early. they're not planning on selling rsgp… so how is this like legalizing mj? actually read the thread and youd see people talkin about emotes, cosmetic items etc.. why would they sell rsgp when they're selling untradable things.
jagex can do whatever it is that they feel like doing with they're game. it is in fact they're game, i feel sorry for the people who fall for they're next money making scheem. lol why would i want to pay say 5.00 to have a cool new emote in a game that has crashed and burned some time ago, yea sure its 5.00 by shit thats 5 on it to buy some cron after a hard days work, thats bus fair to and from work, thats lunch? for those who do waste the cash. good for them. thats a personal choice.

I am saying, I hope in the near furture they do sell items–etc because at the end of the day Jagex will gain from it and in the long run the players can benefit from it with more updates, etc since there making more money.

If it's just cosmetic items, emotes, and stuff like that, I don't have a problem with it since it won't give them an advantage. Now, if they start selling stat increasing items for cash, I'll have a problem with it since some people wouldn't be able to buy them.
