SMART FPS Bar (Please Read)

Is it useful? I'm probably going to be making some rather drastic changes to SMART's core and the FPS additions might be the source of all the problems. Should I try to re-implement it, or is it antiquated?

What would you do to it is the question I'd ask before voting. Currently SRL_SmartFixSpeed toggles the FPS bar for smart to load fast on windows. If the SPS bar is gone, there'd be no need to toggle it so it should load fast still right?
Without knowing what you're going to do with it, I'd say yes remove it because there is no point intentionally slowing down Frames Per Second. Removing it should make it the same as the normal rs client imo.
Idea posted by someone else: Use fps bar to shift the canvas up and down lolol.
For now I'm voting yes to remove it.. I don't use it and I don't think it's useful. No one runs rs on 256mb ram anymore..
EDIT: Shit didn't read the poll.. I thought it was yes to remove lol.

I use it always, however it wouldn't hurt my feelings if it were gone.. I usually just maximize it, so if you do a good stable FPS that works well for botting that is fine with me

Yeah, just like Brandon said, it would depend on what happens after you get rid of it. Take it away and the FPS is the same as it was when the bar was all the way at the top, that would be great :). Imo, it's kind of annoying for me to keep scrolling the bar all the way up every time i start a script (Ik there's a way to do it automatically with SMART Manager, but I haven't gotten around to using it yet). I can't really say i find any use for it.

The only real use for it (IMO) was in the past with reflection, you could turn it all the way down it would barely save some cpu resources (but a little is better than none) and reflection bots would still work fine.. IMO that was the only great use for it, now with color we want the highest fps possible so everything works well

It's useful, but not too useful.

All my scripts/everyones I have used runs perfectly in the middle, the only time I have seen a slight improvement was when I let a memory leak happen in a script of mine.

+1 vote for letting it be for shifting the client up and down because of the current SRL problems. :)
That is if it can't be used for anything better.

Getting rid of it would make it the same as the regular client

If that's what you would do, then I'd say sure, do it. I don't really see a use in lowering FPS anymore anyways.

pretend my yes vote is a "do it" vote

I like that it reduces the system usage, however this often causes issues with scripts due to the low FPS. Also it causes no end of problems when SMART restarts after 6 hours, 80% of the time RS takes too long to load up and the script terminates. So IMO, unless these bugs/issues can be fixed, take it out please :)
Thanks.

Im going to go ahead and vote no. Lowering it doesnt seem to reduce cpu usage by all that much for me. I'd rather have my scripts be stable than try and save some cpu and risk a script screwing up.
I would remove it, I always have to turn it up, or else it lags pretty bad. :(

Yea I agree with others in getting rid of it, especially if it meant that it would make it the same as the client, but if it would be easier to keep it, it also doesn't bother me because I have it set on all my scripts to start it with the bar all the way up.
I always have it at about 3/4. But at 1/2 I don't find much difference either.

In my opinion it can be removed, but you already knew that from IRC.
I think most of the time it is used to increase FPS now, rather than decrease, so just let it use the same frame rate as normal client.

Doesn't just disabling the graphics save the most resources anyways? Just do that and forget the FPS bar

It's not a nuisance, but I could live without it. I just scroll the bar all the way up every time I open the client.

To be honest, when I first started. I thought to myself " whats this slidy thing, doesn't seem to do anything".
So I could live without it, I usually leave it mid and scripts are good.

Read the poll. It says "Is it useful" which is why my answer is no :p
Not very usefull. If it's the source of the problems, then be gone slider!

Yes, it is usefull because some scripts are designed to work the same with lots of lag and others only work without lag.. Therefore you could slide it down on the first one and up on the second. But if its the source of problems then I would delete it because there are other ways to change the fps. (in-game CPU used) (task manager) (smart manager I believe)

I'm in the same boat as chris and some scripts actually run smoother with the slider bar down with multiple scripts running.
It's useful in the way that you can reduce the FPS to allow better performance over multiple SMARTS.
Would there be any way to count the clients, and reduce FPS accordingly?
Without the need for the bar?
I vote no. It saves a lot of CPU if you know when to use it.
But if you can make it save CPU some other way then yes =)

Regarding multiple botting, the FPS slider should always be above mid or max, literally no difference but it should never be low, an insanely minimal difference regarding CPU usage and it makes it extremely slow.. disabling graphics makes a difference though.
The only conceivable circumstance that the slider would be worth keeping is for people with BAD computers who can only run 1-2 clients and have to get the most they can out of it. When running multiple names it should always be kept max and graphics disabled if needed.

For low end uses like me(ie. running an 8 year old CPU) the FPS bar is vital. I can barely run the game in browser, would be impossible to do anything with it let alone bot if I didn't have the bar.

Would like to see it gone tbh. No use for it. I always slide it to max anyway.
I wouldn't care if it was gone, assuming it does something. I've noticed no changes at Max. As far as computer, I use smart on 2 weak 512 mob ram computers and 2 ultra powerful8gb ram quadcores. I set it at Max on the good computers and leave it alone on the other 2. Do wat u think is best.
It helps save a lot of CPU if you know what your'e doing… I could run near 10 bots on my dual core with reflection adjusting the cpu bar. Its still useful IMO, even without reflection.

I think for running multiple bots it's usefull but I also think it is causing bugs because sometimes RS won't load but when I move the fpsbar a milimeter, then it starts loading. :p very strange. But for one account it's not really usefull unless you have a very slow computer.

"I vote no. It saves a lot of CPU if

some other way then yes =)"
The poll asks: "Is the FPS bar usefull?"
Your basically saying: "it's not usefull because it saves a lot of CPU if you know when to use it. If there's another way to do the same thing than yes it's usefull"
;)

I think it's very useful! After the enable/disable smart button it's my favorite!
Helps reduce CPU usage quite a bit! I'd really dislike if it was removed!

+1 , its also handy for bulkying up my fc (by joining in the lobby) and then i turn the slider to bottem so it doesnt use my much cpu
I think a lot of people are voting 'Yes' thinking yes to be removed, when in fact they should be voting 'No', as in no it isn't very useful :p
I stick to my earlier point; if there is a away to count the clients and reduce the FPS in proportion to the number of clients, then the FPS Bar should be removed.
