So a Chinese goldfarmer got hold of my account...

…or at least, one of my accounts. This was an inactive one I don't really use anymore (had no wealth of any kind on it, monetary or in items). I was on another one of my accounts earlier and saw that this one was logged in. Knowing something was wrong I changed the password, and once they logged out I logged in to see the pictures below. The IP address traces back to China, and the gear setup and location are very clearly gold farming related (as a side note, I last left the account at the GE). I didn't lose anything (in fact, I gained about 4.2m from selling the gear and banked loot), but I am a little concerned for the safety of my more important accounts now.

EDIT: The pictures are big, and trying to embed them was causing problems.

arin.net is the only place you should use to IP lookup, even if it belongs to a different region, arin will tell you and you can go there… etc

imo start a war vs the chinese

How did they manage to get it… hmm
That is quite odd. Glad you got it back.

Should we let goldfarmers *hack* our accounts and use them for goldfarming and recover them at a later time to make bank? ;) Just wondering…

You do know that in about 60% of china the ISP firewall for "limiting communication" (aka the speading of shit about the chinese government, and porn) blocks access to the runescape servers, you can access it directly, but u rarely can get on ( the only place i could personally think of that i could get on was at the hotel and the airport, forumns are unblocked though. ( and no, proxy servers and vpns do not help at all against the chinese firewall) so i think that even lots of the evidence points this way, gold farmers will have trouble getting onto runescape, let alone bot multiple accounts

Stupidest thing I ever heard, please explain why about 5 years ago with RSDemon (pretty sure thats what it was called) it was a chinese bot that rapped Runescape in and out, with thousands of default bots. They can run Runescape, Who would pay for internet when you cant use 60% of websites?

Yeah… I'm pretty sure that now that Jun Lin is dead the impossible firewall is down.

I had used RSBot on that one account, so I'm all but positive that's how they got the password for it. What I find interesting is that they didn't even bother changing the password, they just sorta moved in like a hermit crab.

I made money off of them, so I may change back to the compromised password and let them go at it again :p

The Chinese Communist Party has a strong aversion towards any policy that hampers the country’s continued growth, so the government has authorized the use of VPNs (Virtual Private Networks). Originally designed for businesses, these can be used by anyone who wants to bypass the Firewall, for whatever personal reason.

VPN's don't help???
why does my chinese friend have access to facebook, twitter and the ability to bot multiple accounts (on said vpn)

I have heard rumors of people selling their accounts to Gold4Fun and recovering 6 months later, their accounts were filled with 2b+ in stuff.
