This is not a troll guys, so please respond in all seriousness. Keep the wise ass comments for the rep and/or my other threads.

I just got back from tutors and found a really depressing message from my parents. One of my BEST and CLOSEST friends, James, was apparently being charged for assault/battery. His sister, Jessica, was sexually harassed by two of the boys on the block, you know the type who think they're tough and can get any kind of girl? Yeah, two of them. After this happened (It wasn't anything serious, just a grope in a few places afaik), Jessica went home and told James what had happened.

Just so you know how tight me and him are, we would take a bullet for each other (we've gotten beat up over each other's problems before). We used to do everything together (in Grade 1-9, only started to go our seperate ways, but we're still tight as two bombs on a wire).

James, like any big brother went and completely destroyed the two boys who did it, he used a baseball bat to do serious damage to the two boys. The police report said that the they were bleeding really badly and one of them had a serious concussion.

Now, the thing is, the police are sure that James will come to my house to hide out for a bit, and they want me to report him if he does. My parents have gone out for a few hours and will be back late at night, so the chances of him coming are really high.

The main source of my dillema is that if he comes here, should I report him? Should I sacrifice nearly a lifetime (a teenagers lifetime anyways…) of friendship for this? I don't know the consequences if I hide him, could anyone brief me on that? This'd be much appreciated :s

I'd beat the shit out of anyone who lands a hand on my sis, so I know how he feels and why he did it.

To be honest, if he comes by, don't report it. Just say that he has to be out before your parents get home.

Harboring a fugitive & obstruction. It makes a difference in what the warrant is for though. If it's a misdemeanor warrant, then you may get little more than a severe conversation or an uncomfortable stay in a local prison, with the charges dropped after a few days. If your friend has a felony warrant, however, your actions will be viewed very closely by the police and the D.A., and it is very likely that charges would be filed and prosecuted.

this may be in a silly format but its actually true. As stated above it depends on what he is charged with and how bad thier wounds were

Try to explain that it could get you in a lot of trouble also and that you really aren't sure about doing it. If the police are sure he would come to your house they would have someone posted near your house to watch for him. So it is a huge risk. You could just let him in and say you didn't know what was going on.

Honestly one of the best ideas i've heard, but the sad thing is I don't have spare keys to lockup. Before bock du says that im lieing and that I should have more than two pairs of keys, i'd like to say that we have two pairs, one which I used while at school, and one with my dad.

This. Unless they can see him from outside, they cannot enter to search for him without a warrant. By the time they have one your friend would be long gone. You won't be in the police's good graces, but legally they couldn't punish you without proof you harbored him.

If they do find him, a good lawyer could come up with a great temporary insanity/crime of passion defense.

And @bock do, you aren't at Powerbot anymore. We don't appreciate your kind around here. If you aren't being constructive then you should probably leave.

If you're both minors, and you report him or you don't, what is the worst that could happen? Neither of you will go to gaol if you explain to the police/judge exactly what had happened and how you feel about each other. He's going to get caught either way, with you or without. Would you prefer to be on the police's bad side, or good side, when you both explain the situation to them?

The real question you should ask is…
If you were in his shoes and you came to him to hide out, what would you want him to do, help you out, or report you?

as long as there is no evidence of him staying at your house..


either way, judicial system around the world is fucked. Scammers and thieves get away with the law while abiding citizens gets punished severely.

Parent's will be home in an hour, so I don't think he'll show.. Hopefully all goes well :s

I felt the need to respond to this, if your both minors, then it really doesn't matter anyways since your record is wiped clean at 18…

I know im late but this is what I would do. Dont turn him in. If your uncomfortable with him staying with you just ask him to leave. If not I would ask him to leave before your parents got home.

Hm.. Shay, You're in a tough one.. I hope you make the right decision, because I'm torn here.

Don't report it, but make sure that you have a contingency if the cops show up and he IS at your house. You getting involved in the case will not only take a lot of your time, but will most likely get you a criminal record- harming your future.

I think I would sit him down and tell him to turn himself in. He made the choice to break the law. Whether or not it was justified in his eyes, it is still against the law to cause bodily harm to someone else if not in self defense. He is obviously not going to be able to out run justice for his entire life, so it is best to man up and take what he has coming.

I don't know about the law at your country. But I will definitely hide him, and if cops shows up we'll beat the cops. Happened to few of my friends already, but they didn't hide in my house.

He would have expected the cops will come to you and your house isn't a safe place. But if I'm you, I will still find out where is he and help him out with everything I could do.

I think it is just silly for anyone to advise you to help him out, provide him with money, or do "everything" you can do. This is America and we can't beat our cops here. Any avoiding he is doing is only delaying the process. You said he is a minor so he is under 18 years old. Does anyone really think it is the smart thing to do or even realistic to expect to avoid the charges for the remaining 70+ years of his life…?

hey, im a minor, at 13 i was labelled a convicted felon, charged with Assault with a deadly weapon conflicting serious injuries… you can still get in trouble, minor or not, if your 16 you can go to jail if they catch you doing it, if your not 16, your parents will get in trouble :c

if hes on the run, i would not suggest it. but if he doesnt have a warrant for his arrest or anything it shouldnt matter
