I've never used a script from Shay 'directly'. I am sure he is a very competent scripter. I just listed all the folks that I've used scripts from.

And now the list for us old-timers:

tarajunky - His chickenkiller script forced JaGeX to change the chicken pen in the lumby area because of all the botters
munk - His chickenkiller was so awesome, it's probably still working, 4 years after it was made
Narcle - Still a very great scripter; both his old script and new scripts are amazing
Hy71194 - AKA Harry, the fight-caves script he made was so good, JaGeX started auto-flagging people who entered the fight caves. That was their best method of stopping those bots
Wizzup - His essence miner is villavu's most viewed script thread AFAIK
nielsie95 - That tutorial runner was amazing. I made about 100 accounts with that script

I know I've missed a lot of people, but it's been a long time since then… :p

Hear that, Sin, you are "Competent" :p

And zytex is right… there are a lot more great scripters than the ones named on the list. Good lists though.

I miss tara and munk, had some epic reports with their scripts. Also, I believe everyone here abused the hell out of Hy's Fight Cave script. I know I did :D

Those were the days.

Ah of course, Flight is not on that list. What else should we expect? :p :cartman:

And some that aren't on your list that I used:

  • Pentii's Multi-Miner
  • MasterKill's Iron Miner
  • Sumilion's Rimington Miner/and his Power Miner.
  • Lorax + Sumilion's Woodcutter
  • Didn't munk also have a miner of some kind? :S
  • JuKKa's Guild Miner

As you can tell, I quite liked mining :-/ I know there are other ones, but those are the ones that I had used the most.

Holy crap tarajunky's a beast

/~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~\
| --> ChickenKiller <-- 2.41 --> by Tarajunky <-- |

Worked for 342 Hours, 11 Minutes and 39 Seconds
Picked up feathers 79930 times.
Killed 183765 chickens at a rate of 537 per hour

But then again, Simba used reflection back in the day, so Scripts were better right…

That was fully color baby :D

All of the old, epic scripts used nothing but color.

Interesting. I remember reading a thread (made by Coh3n) in which 90% of this community was ready to get rid of colour in place of reflection. In fact everyone was hating on colour bots.

Then the nuke came along and everyone suddenly loved colour again.

Weird.

I think you read that wrong, we've never wanted to go full reflection, since our base is color.

I prefer color over reflection, hands down.

All other clients talk shit about us, yet when the truth comes to be, we are always up and running.

FYI. Shay, aka Sin, is one of the new generation scripting trolls in SRL ;) He's not only competent, but often an ass :)

And thanks for the old timers for bringing up those good old times. Even though scripts nowadays are generally more advanced thanks to SRL and other important plugins, what we have done nowadays can hardly compare to the classics brewed in those times…

My interpretation:

From: Coh3n
Because I love this community, and would hate to see it's origins die.

But then I got to thinking, if the origins die, it's only to make way for the future.

To me that's saying "completely remove colour", which of course, is the origin of this site.

But at least we never went through with it :)

That's still only a small snippit of the post. He's saying that he could see it dying, not that he wanted to remove it.

This quote sums up everything, and couldn't be more true (Since he was completely right):

From: kingarabian
Color just as well wont die, and it would be foolish for us to let it die. Infact color will always be available to use for scripting even though it's not really being developed. No matter what Jagex updates in Rs you will always be able to use color in some way, because color basically reads the colors on the screen/interface/minimap/chat etc etc… and acts accordingly.

You cannot say the same for Java/reflection… Sure reflection right now is pretty much flawless and the most easiest and most efficient way to make a script. BUT if Jagex were to update something in there game engine or implement something to stop us from obtaining hooks or do something to stop us from getting hold of the client then, that's pretty much the nail in the coffin for reflection.

Color can be just as efficient as reflection; even though you may have to do so much extra coding (which is a damn good thing you lazy people lol). We could develop some easy to use/efficient procedures/functions for color right just as well, no? Honestly If I wanted to be a super leet programmer I would learn how to code with color 1st.

But its pretty stupid right now to say color is better than reflection for making Runescape scripts. Reflection is superior over color in every category. It's already been proven that you can make crazy ass scripts with Java/reflection(iDungeon). But how reliable is it? What if I wake up tomorrow and find that Reflection is no longer usable? Then what?

The point is clear: Color even though it's harder to use and implement, will always be available. Reflection despite it being super awesome/efficient and easy to use, can be unreliable and if Jagex updates something big then its pretty much dead. I don't know about you people but I still feel that Jagex will do a major update along with a mass ban ;). Yall remember when Jagex tried to take us out when they made colors ingame change over a period of time to throw off scripts? Well we got it around it!

So that's what makes SRL unique and beautiful. We have a failsafe for everything.

Oh and you know those leachers at Rsbot and Rsbuddy? Well they will come back right here.

It's fun reading that thread after the nuke, since everything that was stated that could happen, did :p

Holy crap. Kingarabian, the psychic of SRL. :D

I like color over reflection as well. I don't know, the thought of being able to program off of only reading what a human can read instead of game client code is awesome to me.
