So, you probably all know flipping, its the way I made most of my money, after staking that is.

Why this thread ?

Well most people, for some reason, don't practice flipping despite it being the best money making way when considering the time spent : in 15 minutes, depending on your gold, you can make millions ! So, I'd like to introduce you to flipping.

What is flipping ?

Essentially, flipping is the simplest way to make money : you buy an item on the Grand Exchange for slightly lower than the sales price, and you sell it for slightly higher.

How do you determine the sales price ?

Buy the item on the grand exchange at 5%+, then check the price you bought it for. That's the sales price.

Using the sales price.

You now know at what price the item currently sells/buys.
Buy at 1gp lower than the sales price to get infront of all other buyers.
You should sell at a few GPs over the price (depends on the item).

Why doesn't everyone do flipping ?

1: Because they are scared of losing money. Although you rarely lose money with flipping, there is still a risk.

2: People are lazy. That's what we will exploit. People want instant profit, flipping requires patience.

3: Flipping cannot be done with any item.

Finding a flipping item.

Finding an item to flip is undoubtedly the most annoying part of this moneymaking method, the item has to be safe to flip and easy to buy and sell (good demand and offer).

You will want to find a stable item : an item which doesn't fluctuate too much. Check the GE graphs to find those items.

Item limits : you can only buy a certain amount of items every 4 hours.

Lobsters
Cowhide
Vials
Yew logs
Adamantite ore
Mithril ore
Coal
Iron ore
Rune items (sets/pieces/common weapons/arrows)

P2P :

High level runes (blood, soul, astral)
Sharks
Cannon set
Teleport tablets
Commonly used herbs
Glory amulets
Magic logs
Dragon bones
Commonly used potions

Items in bold are items I flip the most.

Why don't we contribute to expand this list ? Flipping is an excellent way of making money, without being a problem for other people.

You can flip any item :p. I don't know why you say you couldn't?

And everyone doesn't flip because it got nerfed. And I would argue that the unstable items are ALOT better for flipping.

You can flip any item, but there is a higher risk of losing (a lot of) money using unstable items as clans use those and are usually hard to predict.

I made ~2M in 10 minutes yesterday flipping Bandos/Armadyl while waiting for my trees to grow :p

I made about 40M this week from flipping while botting.

SO how do you guys flip now? Do you wait the 4 hours?

You can flip any item, but there is a higher risk of losing (a lot of) money using unstable items as clans use those and are usually hard to predict.

I don't think there is even any clain flipping going on at all. You can't manipulate items like you used to. I'm in smokin mils and group flipping is non-existant, it's basically a RWT forum now.

Obviously you have to know what you're doing. If you're flipping stable runes with a 4gp margin, I guess that's flipping, but it's essentially wasting your time.

What item were you flipping? Just various ones from your list above? I've never flipped for some odd reason, but it seems that I really need to get into it.

There has to be clan flipping going on. Some items fluctuate too much to be a simple O != D case.

I used to flip before it got nerfed. But now I struggle to find anything worth while now. I used to do robin hood hats, D boots bloods and deaths (before they crashed).

So is flipping still a viable way to make money? Some of you guys say it's nerfed, while other not?

I used to do wiz g hats… but one day it just stopped.
I was selling them for 1m each flat
thats almost 400k on each one
so I would be buying at 20% under and selling for 400k over
I was in the money. But now they just stoppped like yesterday…
I'll be trying my hand at rune scims.

What I do to start it off without any risk or sentimemnt:
Start a lvl 3
Put him in a clan and get a ring of kinship
do cowhides by the crafting guild until i have 50k worth of beef and hides.
Flip the hides and beef
Gamble to 250k (may take a while and may need to repeat the cow killing)
buy something worth 250k or less
flip that
then buy the same item
flip it again
repeat until satisfied

again this is my little way to flip without feeling bad about it if I lose.
Got an account with around 2m in a week doing this.

Yeah I flip what ever is under the sun, two days ago I was flipping torva plates for 10m profit/plate.

It happens rarely but it does happen where there is more than a 10m gap, and that is when you capitalize.

No one said it isn't nerfed? :duh:

It's been nerfed.

However you can still flip an item's 4 hour limit once and move onto other items, you just can't flip the same item repeatedly until the limit resets.

True. It is waste of time imo.
