http://forum.runescape.com/forums.ws?16,17,65,63788998,goto,1http://runescape.wikia.com/wiki/OptimusSome source info about Optimus v2 ^
There was another topic on the Runescape forums about this.
It said that the main goal for Optimus v2 was to get rid of the major injection/reflection bots. Removing the color bots was just a side task of it.
It has also been confirmed by Jacmob that the bot nuke is comming end June or begin July and the change of getting delayed was very low.
Im not making another thread to ask what's going on, this thread is ment to give you guys some more info about Optimus v2 :)
Interesting, I think how were a 'side project' probably meaning we don't have a clue how to stop them, were just saying that we are trying :D

To be honest, I do think something will hapen to color bots.
When the first bot nuke came everybody was like aah Jagex can't do us anything. They won't be able to shut down the bots.
But hey, they did shut down the bots for a few months.
The goal of the first bot nuke was aimed at reflection and injection, this time it's including the color bots to.

But it's finishing off injection and reflection bots. I don't think they'll shut us down for too long. Reflection and Injection for sure, probably done for. But not color. They're still figuring us out; hence us being a "side project".

I believe the current reflection/injection bots could be whipped out for sure, but I doubt all will be taken down for quite some time. If anyone were to bounce back after the nuke I'd put my money on someone over at MITB, some very talented people there.
As for an attack on us "screen-scrapers" I openly accept your challenge, Jagex, and I look forward to seeing what you have up your sleeve, if anything. Whether or not you make a devastating blow on SRL I do assure you that we (or atleast some of us) are looking forward to the challenge. :) “En Garde!”

What makes you think that Jagex can wipe the current reflection/injection bots?
They've so far been able to get back up. There even was a bot that claimed to be up after less than a month but because of legal issues they couldn't release it( of course there is no proof of this but it could be true).

I believe Jacmob is going to hit the community very hard… Bot Nuke 2012 will hurt all bot community's. Unlike the last attacks Jagex has done, this time Jacmob has something to prove to Jagex. If he fails, his job is on the line; if he succeeds he will look like a stud.
You think for a moment that Jacmob hasn't thought of everything we've thought of? He's going to implement everything he can to stop us for a long period of time. Side project or not, Jacmobs job is on the line…
So prepare for a real hard hit soon, I'd guess its going to happen on a Monday after 4th of july. Its going to hit everyone hard & everything will all be different for a long period of time.
My guess is if it takes 2months for everyone to get over it, it gives Jagex another 2 months to attack back and counter everything we're doing to learn and adapt in the change.

If you plan for the worse you wont be as surprised the day it hits….
Secondly, the entire idea of setting us back two months could be the entire idea of Jagex to constantly bot nuke every 2-3 months…. I'd recon it would be costly and doubt that would happen because I thought this Nuke was to happen, what back in May?
But again I forsee ALOT of accounts getting banned; that will help stabilize the market too… Be careful what everyone buys, but good luck hope to see the nuke soon enough so we can start to counter it.

I don't think they are going to do any nuke. If they want to ban gold farmers, it is easy to find them and ban with player reports. I don't think they want to stop the after market, so more players get attracted to runescape. For example, a player don't have bandos armour, spend $20 and buy it, they will stick to the game, bcs they invested the money.

I cant imagine a full blown bot nuke happening ever. Last nuke was a failure for jagex from a financial stand point. Alot of the botters had paid account that after the nuke jagex wasnt getting any money from. If my memory serves me right didnt they sell part of the company because of money problems after the last nuke. Weather they admit it or not bots are good for jagex to a certain extent. Just not as many as we have now. With that said i just wonder how slow of a learner they are. I guess time will tell.

It probably wouldn't be a bad idea to just hang low for a few days or a week or so. I've just been doing casual stuff in RS lately like mining the daily supply of red sandstone and a bunch of Castle Wars. Playing legit for long enough will give me some script ideas to pursue after the nuke.

I strongly agree, especially now, Jagex has shown the runescape community their true colors. Through such updates like SoF. If they completely remove the bots that are paying them their monthly salary, they wont have any salary to gain. Yeah, i believe that is correct, they did sell part of their company just to compensate for the loss of profits. Considering Runescape is full of botters alike, their not only nuking the botters, but they're nuking the their own game, and their own profits.
The reason why I believe they want bots to continue to pay and thrive in this game is because I had a permanent ban, and this ban was lifted in a matter 4 days. I had been paying for Runescape membership for an entire year. So im
assuming they quashed the ban simply because of the fact that I pay on a consistent monthly basis. Well played Jagex, well played.

uhem… If they disable the ability to bot (break the bots), and they DON'T BAN you for botting, then you are technically "still paying their monthly" salary". Because there is a 90% chance that your not going to cancel your membership if they disable bots.

I always thought that RS success was because of the bots (I wouldn't do RS without them.) How many users really achieved a max cape without botting?
So the real question is why are there botters? Because it takes a insane amount of time to get to 99! So until getting a 99 or a 120 in Dun. gets faster or more automatic (e.g. RC), bot will be used and tolerated. On the other hand, I feel that Jagex has been working on making the XP gain a bit easier over the last year or so, especially with RC and even FM, but they cannot do it all at once without upsetting the ones who got their 99 "legit."
So I doubt they will ban all users who used bots in the past or the future… It's all in moderation and $ for them.
Selling part of their company is adding pressure for Jagex to generate more income for the new investor, and therefore, using bots in moderation while paying your monthly membership will be tolerated. Maybe I am drinking coolaid, but business wise it does not make sense to eliminate all the bots and cut their earnings at least by half.
BTW, Nuke Day 2 is on the 17th to what I heard.
From: whaevr
…Until they roll out black and white RS Im not too worried about the effectiveness of simba :P
And even then, they have to have 'On Screen' tags letting us know which ore is which and which tree is which, therefore we could just read the tags, making scripting even easier! :)
