Just got back into the game after a few years and autoing using Simba! First official thread on here after about 5 years LOL. But I read about the update with combat and how defense will play an even bigger role and the combat triangle will be evened out so to say.

I can't say I've played the beta because my account is still a lowly skiller. But I've always loved pures and ran quite of few of them and was wondering what you guys thought would happen to pures?

Thinking of making my account have at least 40 defence now instead of saying 1 with the new system they're coming up with… but your thoughts?

Pures are gone. They weren't supposed to exist anyway, you shouldn't gain an advantage by not training a skill.

So is everyone just going to shoot for 99 defense now? Or at least close to even stats?

WE NEED TO SEE HOW THE EFFECTIVENESS OF EACH INDIVIDUAL SKILLS HAS CHANGED.
AT THE MOMENT ONLY WITH THE COMBAT LEVEL CHANGE, PURE STILL HAS AN ADVANTAGE. BUT ONCE YOU GO IN THE BETA, YOU WILL REALISE THAT THE WAY YOU PK HAS COMPLETELY CHANGED. YOUR COMBAT AND SKILL LEVEL ONLY MATTERS TO A POINT, AND YOUR ACTUAL PK SKILL (I.E. HOW FAST YOU CAN SWITCH) WILL DETERMINE IF YOU ARE GOING TO WIN OR LOSE.

SO IN A 1 VS 1 FIGHT BETWEEN A MAXED BARROW AND A MAXED MAIN. THE RESULT WILL DEFINITELY FAVOURS THE PERSON THAT HAS MOST SKILL WITH THEIR HANDS AND NOT THEIR STATS.

My take on the whole defence aspect is that it will play a key role in pvp combat, especially as the system is fine tuned and everyone starts to work out how to actually fight with maximum efficiency (incoming cookie-cutter rotations) but pures will still exist as they will almost always be at a distinctive lower combat level (highest cb skill + defence + 2 = cb level).

Most of your hp comes directly from your Armour now. Full bandos gets you to about 10k hp. If you think about it a maxed summoning tank 99 def and 99 summoning will be the same comabt (102) as a maxed pure. So that means the Summoning tank will have a huge hp advantage over the maxed pure.

Def would not be smart to get rid of pures. Would be death of wildy quitting all over again.

The only reason pures exist is because people are taking advantage of how poorly balanced the combat skills currently are.

Pures will be pretty much gone, as others have stated your HP mostly comes from your amour now and Jagex has stated that someone with 99 str and attack would lose easily lose to some half their level with 60 def

Pking won't be dead, it will be different. Assuming the removal of pures will make pking completely nonviable is ridiculous. People will just learn to do it differently.

The removal of pures is a good thing, overall.
