Anybody else interested in joining and playing this private server? It has nearly 200k people signed up for it and just recently got released in it's pre-alpha stage.

do you start off with a level 3 or can you customize levels?

You start off at level 3. Everything is quite litterly EXACTLY how it is in 2006. The XP rates are the same as normal runescape. There is still a tut island, quests, randoms, ect.

I don't know if i'd want to grind and make a new acc from scratch, probably not then because i don't like training.

Well think about it like this. You wouldn't have to get any high stats for a long time. Most people would be 60 atk and a little above 60 str for a long time. Plus, all of the gp in the game has to enter in from drops, alching, and stores.

that is pretty interesting, everyone will be equal-ish for a while. Maybe i will try it

My cousin told me about it and I'm already registered. I'm about to donate so I can play it, also to help press the bugs out because I'm not doing a single thing this summer besides sleep and Xbox.

I don't even mind starting from scratch, as long as I'm away from the game that "was perfectly fine before it fucked itself (and is still a WIP)" then I'm glad.

I also miss the old days, alot.

Falador/Varrock/Seers world 1/2 trading and asking for a PC in banks, to name a couple.

We could also bot the game, but that would mean going back to an early revision of SRL, which I don't think the SRL SVN existed at the time of 2006. That or creating your own includes.

we've been discussing around, and it would be sad to see a script section for rs2006 and i personally think we should just keep the scripts to ourselves.

I'll probably end up botting on it… Just for combat levels etc so I can have some fun PKing. I already know how I'll work with UpText.

It'd take a while though…and at any given time 2006scape can just shut down.

if it were to get shut down they will release the source for everyone.

Also it would be a dick move on jagex to just shutdown rs2006, without shutting down others like runerewind, and soul split.

Definitely interested, the RuneScape of 2006 was so much more fun than the game of today!

What's the story with rares in 2006scape if all money needs to be brought in through drops, alching and stores?

I've made an account, I think the exp rates should be atleast 2x as fast as normal rs though.

but its classic experience:) and i was super pro 2x, but now i think about it. 1x ain't bad.

Anybody know the possibility of a chicken bot being made? Getting the feathers and bones would be great combat and prayer xp along with money.

Fuck yes. Finally. I've always dreamed about a private server that was the exact same as runescape except pre-hd update. I'm definitely making bots for this.

I'd actually love it if this became more popular than rs lol.

If it's exactly like Runescape exp system, well than I shall start writing scripts ;) haha, I may not have time to play anyways :/ But great way to steal the old-school players!

lets not make any public scripts for rs2006, we can make includes yes. But i'd hate to see rs2006 turned into current rs.

I joined here in 06. So all the scripts I have still from when I joined would all work I assume. That makes me smile a bit

Nobody should make an include for 2006Scape… that's just ruining the spirit. Same goes for releasing public 2006Scape scripts… It would be best if scripts were created and used only by an individual for personal use. The whole point of 2006Scape is nostalgia.

I agree. I'm not going to do any botting in 2006scape. For me, 2006scape will be all about walking around, enjoying the music, and playing castle wars like the good old days.

EDIT: Sucks this had to ruin what looked to be a promising and fun project. I'm hoping they'll get back up to speed eventually, I was looking forward to it.

2006 is pre-grand exchange..oh damn. I remember way back when I used to merch full rune in f2p w1 at the right of the Varrock east bank. Old fashioned merching where you spam "Selling full rune 220k" and "Buying full rune 200k". I miss that.

THOSE WERE THE BEST DAYS AND YOU CAN ACTUALLY HAGGLE IF YOU WANT.
BUT GE DID MADE STUFF MUCH EASIER :) BUT THEN THESE MERCH CLAN COMES IN AND MESS UP WITH THE LEGIT PLAYERS.

If I can I'll be playing, I'll help make an Include and what not as well it won't take very Long at all for us to get started up on awesome Runescape2006 bots and what not.

Does anyone have an idea whether or not the game will come back up?
It seems that these people hacked the site to prove that the developers actually had no real experience or idea what they were doing. Seems like a fairly pointless reason to hack a site that was made purely for the enjoyment of old rs players ;o

I honestly don't agree, the whole point of rs2006 is for a bit of fun on the side and the nostalgia not for grinding for high stats for the sense of accomplishment. There was even talk of having a slightly higher exp multiplier for rs2006.
Anyway I believe that we shouldn't make an include for 2006 and any purpose built scripts for it should be kept private, but this is just my opinion.

Make include, keep scripts private. That way, it will be just like the good old days where only few people botted.
I'd be willing to contribute to an include when the game becomes public.

aside from this an include would probably be the best bet. we kinda need people to write their own scripts for it, and not just release publicly.

Unfortunately, I could never access the site after it was hacked because my collection of antiviruses and firewall blocked me from going there.

^ This is the reason why I can't be a part of third party games..I'll stick to good ol' RS, to risky to mess around with other sites that mirror the game I play.

I wouldn't trust either site right now. I shouldn't have said that it is the legit backup site. Edited my post. Since I haven't donated I can't access their client. I do also believe they said something about not using your runescape username or pass when registering.
