I've heard various rumors going on about how Jagex is planning to exterminate our little race we have here. So from whats been circulating around here, we have probably supplied Jagex with their idea. They probably announced there would be a Botnuke, and then scanned Villavu for ideas :p
So what do you think the Botnuke will be?

I'll go first.
I'm thinking of an IP snake. You know, like… Jagex monitors you and sets a flag on a suspiciously botty behaviored account, then they camp your IP and any other account entries are closely monitored for even more botting. Then if you are attracting too much attention from mods, your IP will be cut and you will be left with 0 (yes 0) progress to show for your scripting talents. Heck, they may have been camping our IPs for weeks in advance of the announcement of botnuke to catch any intelligent people who stopped botting at the announcement. A little branch from that would go so far as to monitor other places you have logged in from and trades you have made.

I wouldn't count out the possibility of them checking your wealth level. If you have been trading with level 3s called icohpyews99wc for vast profits, a flag may arise and you might be monitored. Or the wealth level of icohpyews99wc going from 4 mil to 0 gp in 35 seconds will raise a flag and the trade log of this account will be opened to see that there was only 1 trade without any dialogue exchanged prior. This would maybe add the possibility of RWT and botting. Boom- ban.

Those are my ideas, lets hear yours!

I havent botted on multiple accounts in years.. I need to start I am broke. I agree with what you are saying. I feel like this time around they are going to go for the big dogs as in kill the people that purely gold farm.

It would be really funny if jagex removed free trade a week before the nuke just to make major botters bug out about transferring their money then BOOM BAN HAMMER! :D

Well all I can say is that jagex has been flagging accounts with suspicious behavior and if you were botting before they announced the nuke, and then you time decreases..well that makes them think:

Jagex: bot nuke in July!
You: wow got to search around..
You: it's true!
You: got to stop botting.
Jagex: look we got a bait!
Jagex flagged..
(nuke day 11:34 am)
You: logging in….. Nooooo!!!!

I could literally write an easy way to flag potential bots within an hour :l

My take on all this? If Jacmob could "stop all bots" and then he didn't, there isn't really a way that they can do this. Sure, they can obfuscate code and change ID's, etc. etc., but color bots? I'm just not sure. Supposedly because of the whole SMART issue we're having (hopefully will be fixed very soon) we're detectable, but I really think that's the only way. They have to have 100% proof that you're botting, and by using a color program that doesn't read the client, how can they tell if you aren't caught in some loop or anything? I don't know.

It's going to be damn interesting for sure.

I think they are mostly trying to get the gold farming sites and so on. People like us that actually don't mostly gold-farm and train skills are on less of a priority. That is what I think.

Honestly I doubt we will be affect by this at all.

I think they already have a lot of us flagged, I do not see how the bot programs, eg smart, epicbot etc, are not detectable? And I also think they already have their list of botters already ready to be banned and are just waiting for i dont know what…

God i hope I don't get banned >.<

I actually don't really care if i am banned. That will give me a reason to stop playing RS :P I will sell all my gold soon, don't wanna miss out on that extra &#8364;400,-.

Get a program to invert your screens colors and your set to bot again.

I listened to some podcasts (I'm a nerd, sue me) from Mod Mark and Runeshark and they said they were going to go for the actual player rather than individual accounts. I think this will be hard to do with some people as they use only 1 or 2 accounts, but if you have an army your screwed. I'm probably screwed. I'm gonna start IP popping all over this globe.
All I can say is this: if they catch me, they have Hunter lvl 99.

Oh right so they are going to target IPs, I only bot on two accounts my main and a back up account >.< what's going to happen!?

I doubt they can stop color bots. Injection will be gone forever though.

We would just have to change the color settings in our scripts… they can't do anything lethal to our progress.

But how will they know if we're botting etc? by tracking our ongame time?

Snipers watching from the rooftop… guards posted outside your door… satellite imaging… they have their ways.
