So yeah, Windows announced two of their own tablets two days ago. The Windows Surface.

There will be two versions:
Version #1:
This is the Surface RT version. Will have a 1,4 Ghz Nividia Tegra 3 processor. Will be ~676 grams and 9,3mm thin. Will have a 720p screen at 10,6". Has a Micro SD card reader, usb 2.0 and micro hdmi. There will be two version, 32gb/64gb. This version will only support Windows RT and will only run in the Metro surface so yeah..

This is the Surface version and it will have Windows 8 Pro running on it. Will have an Intel i5 Ivy Bridge cpu and will also have the full Windows office. This one will be 903 grams and around 13,6mm thin. Will have a 1080p screen at 10,6". Will also have either 64/128 gb storage so that is a plus. Also, has usb 3.0 / micro sdxc card reader and mini display port slot. Comes with a stylus.

Here is the official site, there is a video on there aswell.

I've been looking forward to these for quite a long time :P I really like the 3mm keyboard that will also be used as a smart cover. My father has a smart cover for his iPad 3 aswell and it works really neat.

Here is a video that actually shows the RT version, bad quality unfortunately

This one is better quality and shows the Pro version

I will definately be getting one of these but I'm not sure which one. The RT version looks really neat and is really thin, while the Pro version offers you the full windows 8 experience. Also it has much better specs with it's i5 and full hd screen, not to forget the usb 3.0 support etc. 13,5mm seems to be a bit thick though.. but yeah I'll wait until I can see them IRL :P

Your opnion? :)

I've been waiting for these to come out! I will be picking up the Pro version, since the Surface RT only has an ARM processor.

I would be interested in one of these, but I have to spend some time reading on them before I make a decision. Pricing will make a huge difference, if they make them to expensive, I won't be interested.

Yeah…

Note: You could probably do this with any presentation about 2 similar devices. Just pointing out something to laugh at.

Not really, but as far as I've read/heard the RT version should be around the same price as other tablets with those specs. Considering the Galaxy tab/Transformer/iPad are around $500 I think the windows RT version will be around that price aswell. That's what Microsoft said :P

Also for the Windows Pro version it should be around the same price as "cheap" ultra books so I think it wil be around $800 for that one.

I've been waiting for these aswell :P Ever since tablets really got popular but I really wanted to buy one with more functionality. On the Pro version you can actually run the same things as on a PC which include Java, Flash.. and just everything :D

In all fairness, Microsoft threw a desktop operating system into a computer and used a touchscreen as input in 2002. Apple actually made an operating system built for touch screens. I wouldn't count those 2 as the same things.

Exactly.

The iPad revolutionized things because of everything put into it. Hardware and software.

In all fairness, Bill Gates introduced the first tablet, no matter how bad it was. ;)

If you want to defend that thing then you can have this argument ;)

Touche' Kyle, touche'.

Fully looking forward to the i5 processor though. This thing could be a game changer…I just hope it isn't $799+ which it probably will be, which will limit sales.

Nevertheless, Apple were the first to come up with multitouch-mobile phones and tablets, so they got that one

I agree that Apple revolutionized the mobile phone and tablet market, but, they stole the tablet idea from Microsoft and just made it better.

I'm just sick of people calling the new Windows 8 tablets "stolen" from Apple. When really, it's the other way around ;)

The upcoming Win8 tablet will be huge, I believe. The iPad is a fantastic device too, but it's about time a real competitor came forward.
