Botnuke in July- CONFIRMED by Mod Jacmob

Jake

2012-06-13 00:38:37

Original thread was in High level forums, a maxed player copy-pasted the post to the RSOF, and a ingame screenshot was given out as well. Conversation is between Woox16(for those of you who dont know him… look him up…) and Mod Jacmob.

About time, there was a technician mod who confirmed the nuke about 3 weeks ago and I guess its solid now.

Looks like rare prices will continue to fall then. I've been waiting on the perfect time to start buying, but at this point I'm not sure there will be one.

As for the nuke itself, I'm glad it's finally coming. I'm not worried about my own accounts, and with any luck there will be less competition in the hotspots.

We are not sure, but probaly with a ''simple update'' we can continue botting. Also i think this botnuke will be vs the GoldFarmers, i mean yes ofcourse injection bots will stop working etc. But i think it will ban loads of GoldFarmers.

Jacmob suggests that the nuke won't only make it hard/impossible to bot(for some group at least), but it will also ban the people botting currently. Hmm…

[S]paz

2012-06-13 03:07:28

I for one hope it goes ahead…
The clan or botters exposed recently made me seriously think how many of those "clans" haven't been exposed yet. Seems the more you scratch the surface the more crap you uncover.

Surely there is some way they can detect that we are using smart or something can't they? I think I read in a update that this was being improved also wasn't it?

I was not around last bot nuke, where colour bots affected? obviously a lot of scripts would have broken but were they fairly easily fixed?

masterBB

The only risk in simba botting is that the SMART client becomes detectable.

Why? The only difference as far as I know is that it get its own process, with it its own memory space. Making it possible to get rid of a jvm.

At the very worst we will just resort to VM botting? Im worried that they will do it before the bot nuke (or perhaps they have already done it) and store the list of simba users and mass ban them with the rest of the injection bots during the bot nuke (to act as if they can detect both injection and color when in fact all they detected was SMART). Though i think the impact of simba on RS is not significant enough for jagex to even bother about us. Those injection/goldfarming bots would probably be their priority.

I know that, but that wasn't a fix to just smart 7.1 afaik. iirc Benland stated that smart itself can be detected cause it doesn't run in a browser.

These questions are completely unanswerable I'm afraid. We can only speculate since we do not know 100% certainly how they operate and what they are planning.

When botting there is always a chance you can be banned. Any other claim is false.

Your close to 100% safe when you bot in an internet browser.

Close but never 100%. My point was
A)Detection - via reflection or any other methods that Jagex can detect
B)Reports by other players who have guessed you are
C)Bad script leading to spamming for hours doing nothing

Nothing can be 100% safe. Although there are options far safer than others.

Sirenia

2012-06-13 06:48:48

I think Runescape have a pretty poor detection system for bots server wise, if you were going to use a system like SPS in WoW you would get banned very fast due it clicks points that arent randomly generated and a walking pattern will quickly appear

[S]paz

2012-06-13 06:52:29

I agree, from my experience Jagex do not seem to demonstrate any kind of advanced auto detection methods. A lot (and some people are convinced) it is random Jmod walking and player reports only which contribute to bans.

I honestly doubt they are going to mass ban anyone who has used SMART. Look at how many years have we been using it. The amount of users using SMART is small compared to the people using the Injection/reflection clients.

Usually they do little things to annoy folks and maybe a day of downtime to change some main functions / procedures but after that scripts are usually up and running again, random solving if anything are the ones that get hit the hardest

Well then find other methods to train Magic a.s.a.p but once you check out Runespan you would be surprised at the xp per hour you can get at that place. The xp start at 30k+ xp per hour in f2p and 50k+ in p2p.

I just found this posted on the rs forums, some more info about the bot nuke from the mod mark podcast.

-Brutal Bot updates using the Optimus update (probably referring to the nuke now confirmed for July)
-On Bots: "I'm not taking any prisoners… people have accused us in the past of being too easy and forgiving, giving people too many chances. We're not going to be doing that anymore. If people are stupid enough to use that kind of software, then they are going to suffer."
-Not interested in individual accounts, but in the people using bots. The people who are running several bots to supply their main, etc.

This up and coming bot nuke in July shouldn't hurt us much. It's mainly target injection bots, which are the ones that gold farm and pretty much 90% of the botting community.

If using SMART is dangerous we'll simply revert to using the runescape browser client or the downloadable loader as the screen target. (Good ol' SCAR nostalgia)
