Wouldn't this make sense?

Wouldn't it make sense if in Runescape, when you're training defense, you get exp for every attack you block? And you would only get points for that if you're attack style is set to "Block" and you would receive like what, 15 points every time you block an attack? And the rate of exp would increase as your level rises, because you would block more attacks as you have a higher defense. Would you guys want this?

EDIT: I always used to think this was how it worked, lmao. But they could make it work for different monsters.

Level 1-5: 1 exp per block
Level 6-20: 5 exp per block
Level 21-30: 10 exp per block
Level 31-40: 20 exp per block

You get the idea. They'll probably need equations to balance it out, but it could work.

This would mean that u can gain very high xp rates in multicombat zones of monsters with very fast attack speed but low accuracy. Exp rates will then be largely dependent on the monster u r fighting rather than ur actual skill lvls. I think the current system works pretty fine, even though it encourages ppl to train str&att first.

yes it would. You should certainly suggest it :)

It would make sense but if it was changed right now. AFKing in a multi area with good gear would get so much exp. Might as well leave it really…

True. Maybe they could make the exp rates for monsters different. Like for chickens you gain 1 exp per block :D

It would have to be on the monster not your level, otherwise you'd just attack a goblin with a crap spell, turn auto retaliate off, then get free xp…

Yeah exactly, otherwise stronghold with full rune and auto retaliate off with the occasional attack would sending exp/hr rates through the roof.

That's how I thought it was when I first started playing many many years ago, but then I realized you had to switch between the weapon setups (stab, block etc) and really didn't make much sense to me, because your health goes up gradually similar to how defense SHOULD

It would make more sense but Jagex have already made it so easy..

Yeah, that's how it was for me. I accidentally created a pretty bad attack pure lol.

If this happened, there would be no pures out there as they would gain some defence levels.

Well then shouldn't you get prayer xp for praying? Or lp for healing?

Yeah, this thought came up in my head as well. And training defence would be way too fast. I don't know, it would be cool, but it wuild kind of ruin a lot of things so.. I don't support it, sorry.

It would make things too easy, but that would fit right in with all the other recent updates…

It would make sense if a "block" was something more than just a miss. If a block was something that actually had to be strategically used, then yes, it would make sense. As it stands, a block is just something that happens passively.

This is like saying whenever you run, you should get Agility experience. I personally think that it is OK right now.
