Combat update = prices rise?

I just had a thought, I wonder if anyone else thinks this is plausible.

With the combat update, it's assumed it is going to make fighting harder (as in you actually have to move around, swing, jump, etc.) instead of just clicking 'attack' and waiting.

So with fighting becoming harder, Bosses like Nex, Corp, etc. will still require the hardness of all the switching and stuff, but the new added difficulty of the new combat. Do you think this could mean the prices of torva, sigils, or maybe even bandos armor (boss drops), could increase if they become harder to get?

I may be crazy, but I'm just thinking that kills per hour might not be as good with the newer "more entertaining" combat system, and thus decrease the supply, increasing the cost.

Thoughts?

oh, really. Hmm i guess I never saw that - link please ^.^

and I wonder what that means "xp faster". Does that mean more hits? Faster hits? More exp per hit?

Depending upon "xp will be faster"'s meaning, it may have no effect. It may be more exp, but still slower kills, which still means less drops.

Maybe the xp you get from fighting a monster will be a formula based on the level of both the player and the monster, and the fighting style? Just an idea.

AFAIK the xp rate isn't changing. The only reason it is going to be faster is because of the new abilities being able to hit higher. In the Combat Rework video it showed hitting 2500's with an ability. This would make xp rates much higher depending on how often you can use an ability.

Yes, certain thing's are rising as well as dropping. An example of both is the whip is going up, but claws are dropping due to rumors of specials being removed.

im sure somewhere a few months ago i mentioned world of warscape, this thread has just clarified every reason i quit runescape, why? it's not runescape now. sell your items, sell your gold, go buy some epic tech…

im just gonna cash out everything before player margins drop… if they rework combat to be how they say they are, then meh… i KNOW people are going to start quitting, if people quit because armor models got changed, then alot more will leave because of the engine changes, optimus is a platform for them to develop a new game engine on thats why they are saying injection bots will die.

new game engine = well you already know this, bots be downed for however long it takes to rebuild the client around the new engine

P.S, think about this logically before going "SKSHJA YOUR WRONG!"
runescape's combat system is unique (atleast i have not seen it anywhere else) and those people who are fond of slayer and such atm are going to have everything turned upside down.

it'll probably be more of a hassle running around and having to repeatably bash some onscreen button to attack, block, move, which is probably why exp rates will be increased for harder monsters which in turn will probably turn the people who have never had to deal/experience this type of combat against it. (i know im put off, it's one reason i don't play WoW)

seems logical because it would be like turning skilling into a system where 1 click returns 1 item, the same way a normal tree/evergreen works, you would just get bored.

so to be honest i see the whole combat side of the game becoming rather dusty and everyone flocking to the skills again, some people will just not be able to kill stuff using the new system which provides a reason to ragequit, yeah im guessing stuff will rise, nex armor and such anyway

i really do just feel like every aspect of runescape is being removed and replaced with the tricks of the mmorpg trade.
kinda sad to see such a unique game fall into the hands of a company with the mind-frame of blizzard imho

but meh, who am i to voice the runescape community, this is just coming from someone who has played since you had to "gear up" to kill an ice giant (yes when they were the games strongest monster)

It's really not as bad as people think.

1. It's not really "World of Warcrafty" because tbh WoW was not the first game to come up with most of the stuff it has. Given it is probably the most popular though.
2. You can still use the old combat system like 1 cick to attack a monster, it's just that you won't be getting the optimum amount of damage dealt therefor not as much xp/hr.
3. It will be introducing new "abilities" that are confirmed to hit as high as 2500!
4. They are implementing an actionbar that you can assign items to for skilling, abilities for combat, or food or potions I believe. This will be so helpful!
5. I do ask that you atleast try the combat beta to just test it out and see if you like it, because you very well might.
6. The new combat system might bring a whole lot more players who like the "WoW playing style" and we will be able to keep the old style if you prefer it.
7. More players=More money for Jagex+price of gold rises=Less advertising for SoF/Etc…
8. Jagex getting rid of Injection/Reflection completely=Price of gold rises and we here at Villavu will still be able to use bots to gain money and sell it for higher prices!

Edit: also check out this thread for all of the OFFICIAL CONFIRMED changes.

my point exactly, you can use the old one if you want, but we shall punish you by giving you shit xp/hits

they don't care about the players who have been there for years, it's who they can drag in to gain more cash. i don't want to use the new combat system and i shouldnt be punished for my choices, its stupid, first was the Sof, then came runespan (which ruins the whole 2 months i've spent botting runecraft?) now comes average mmorpg joe combat system with penalties if you dislike it. way to be money grabbing douches jagex

You aren't getting worse xp rates than before! :duh:
If you use the current system you will get the exact same xp rates except for any miniscule bonuses from things like claw specs. You might have to change your setup to exclude things like EE or things like that but it isn't that big of an issue…. :duh::duh::duh:

you said the new system will give better xp if you use the new system than the regular?

i then we kinda are being robbed of experience for not wishing to use the updated version, i just think that this update needs some damn heavy revision.
if they do the jagex special of rushing in and releasing it because they have a buzz over it (even after the BETA) i think it's gonna cause a few community rifts

it's like saying "if you can't use our new combat system, then don't worry, you'll only gain less exp/dps than the guy using the new one!" what will that do to the teams for bossing? the leaders will most likely want people using the new cmb system, more damage so why wouldnt they.
this leaves the players who can't get used to it in a bit of a pickle and this is where im coming from, there are so many aspects that need revised, just think it's a bit too much of a task for jagex, hell they can't even make sure a nuke goes off right, so how are they going to implement a brand new combat system without ruining one thing or another?

inb4 game engine gets switched and wowscape is revealed (tis what optimus really is) ;)

They are just adding a way to get better xp rates and that's by using abilities and things like that. It's just like the bonfire update or the runespan. You can continue using old methods of training and you will get the same xp as before but there is a better alternative if you are open to change.

yeah, but firemaking, you click one log to make one fire, they had to change that, nobody wanted to do firemaking

they are taking combat and reversing that lol.

we'll see what the players say on release i guess

They are just adding more features. Just like Runespan and bonfires. And there are a few new updates that will help with skilling a lot!

Dear Lovely Community,
Prices of weapons that are popular because of their special like: Dragon dagger ++, Dragon claws, Bandos godsword-Armadyl godsword, Darkbow, Granite Maul, and all those popular pking weapons will drop in prices since the new combat update will remove "specials" from ALL weapons. Now it's up to you if you keep or sell it.

You idiot… They are losing their special because they are going to be much more powerful and have abilites very similiar to their old specials. The dragon claws for example and a few other weapons will be able to use an ability called "flurry" which is essentially the exact same thing. People need to calm down and read what the updates entail!!!:fiery::fiery::fiery:

I believe this update will change the way runescape is played turning off many players and I am willing to bet the weapons with the best ko's and combo's will still be the highest valued weapons and most wanted for that reason. Does anyone know if there will be any new weapons coming out along with this update?

Dear mouth breather,

Prices are actually normalizing because specials won't be limited to one weapon. BGS is going up, abyssal whip is rising, and yes AGS is falling as prices stabilize. Do a little research before sperging, thanks.

Also, I can read your post just fine without the @#@#@ bold and big listen to me fancy formatting.

Well I am a big fan of the new Combat update since for once it will allow skill to dictate the fight rather luck or weapons of wealth…Finally you can win a fight for just being a better player.

I know back in the old RSC days I started out with 2 accounts for staking and beleive it or not my 1st account was 60-60-60 and then my second account was 68attack, 88def, 30str and It was great, 1mage, 1pray I would consider my self the 1st with 1prayer staker back in 02…

Its funny to see people talking about me as one of the greatest stakers;
http://forums.zybez.net/topic/686590-best-staker/

when RS first came out with the forums there was a post called "top stakers" my name was posted every time, now a days its max vs max and its just 100% luck….Back then it was really based upon your level set up… Not saying it took any skill back then but it surly wasnt as luck based as it is today…

If the combat system does work out to be 100% player skill I'll def get back into staking again.

no, you sir an idiot.

dragon claws "special ability" will be the same as other weapons in the "small weapons" class. just like all 2hs and godswords will have the same abilities as they are large weapons. that's why claws are now 7m. lol
