just been reading up on the combat rework and the game is really changing alot. something i've seen which will really affect prices of items is the removal of special attacks. it says after the rework all godswords will be exactly the same apart from the looks, and the swords will all have the same "special ability" not special attack and the swords stats will be increased. weapons such as claws may become useless or better but it will no langer have a special attack but a special ability called "flurry"

another large thing is they are sort of ruining pures, it says that a pure will be at a disadvantage. pking will be completely changed and it says with the better armour you wear the more lifepoints a person will have, so prodding is being removed

other things being added are:

shield-bows

2 handed crossbows

special abilities

activity bar

new tactics for pvming

barrows sets will have new special abilities


if you want to read about it in full detail, search mod rathe's recent posts about in the runescape forums. just thought i'd share this as i feel it's a huge update and prices will be rising/crashing. mod rathe says the update will come around September but may be delayed to polish it up.

yeah, i understand your point and i agree.

but, jagex' aim is for players to not keep one skill low, but to try and get all there stats to 99 and the higher is better and a pure isn't that.

Meh this will be interesting to see in the Beta version

Wow that's a pretty awesome crystal ball you have there.

This update is long overdue. The combat system, as it is now, is a joke and extremely dated. They are right to make pures less viable.

If by this you mean that teleblock/2-shotting won't work anymore, then I say bring on the update.

I've never been an early adopter for RS updates, but this one looks promising. I have high hopes, it looks somewhat Dragon Age 1-ish. To everyone saying this will kill the game, remember that everyone said the Grand Exchange would kill the game as well.

I defs think the update is pretty cool for pvm but when it comes to pvp especially on my pure it seems like it's just gonna ruin all the fun ;) but we'll see how it goes

yeah, i agree. the whole movement of combat and on-screen bars and things happening is just going to ruin the combat scripts.

Maybe they'll come up with some new type of pures, who knows. It doesn't matter to be honest.
