Thanks to player feedback, we have reviewed the quality and value of the prizes available on the Squeal of Fortune, and we’re pleased to announce that we will be making significant improvements to the drop rates and overall value of the loot on offer.

With the launch of our next content update on Tuesday 29th May, each time you spin the Squeal of Fortune you’ll stand a greater chance of winning something awesome, courtesy of our revised, remixed and revitalised prize list.

•More coin prizes added that will also appear more frequently, including 5,000, 50,000 and 500,000gp!
•Coin prizes substantially increased in value, e.g. the 50gp prize is now 1000gp.
•More useful common items in increased quantities.
•New items swapped in to replace your most commonly discarded items including:
◦Construction and Fletching supplies such as planks and logs.
◦Crafting and Smithing materials, including leather and ore.

It's not stupid, it's one of the most effective marketing techniques ever for Jagex. It's designed to marginalize free players into thinking they are nothing without members.

I remember back in the day, when this game was actually exciting, fun, challenging and satisfying to play…
Back in the day, when I was a total noob and got excited whenever I found a raw lobster on the floor (which was worth 250gp; a lot more than it seems now, back then).
Inflation and gold farmers have both contributed to changing this game into the worse, but the true virus in this rotting game is the very producer of the game; JaGeX themselves…

I remember back in the days when I finally achieved my first rune full set. I was so happy I even told my mom; nowadays you can win enough money to buy it by just logging into the game 7 times a week for a week or two, or pay some goldfarmer $3.5 and buy multiple full sets.
I also remember how I cried in real life ( I was young(er) back then ) when some person scammed my rune fullhelm by using the "free trimming" method..

Nowadays, you just walk around and brag about your botted or bought pixel money or pixel items… There's no thrill, fun or challenging about this game anymore..

Indirectly it does…we had to create a function to exit the damn thing. ;)

(and it still needs to be worked on, it doesn't work sometimes and you've gotta manually close it, but it's because of the stupid game, not the function)

Well now probably I'll get something better, but I still don't like this squeal of fortunne. It just makes the game worse :/

I agree, I remember when I were combat level 38 and highest of all my friends. I lost my full black by the free trimming scam and that person said he would need my password to transfer it back to my account.. So he ofc changed the password. Now some months back I recovered the account, last time logged in was 1600 days ago :P
Unfortunately the account was still level 38 and didnt have any valuables ^^
But yeah. it ruins the game.

It is a real shame that it's come to this. Jagex had a great deal of potential with their game back in 2006/7. It just went downhill from being aimed at younger, greedier people.

Still got 30 spins over my 2 main accounts, I'll post some results. I hope I still get as many lamps though, it's the only thing I want.

It's still more efficient to buy rsgp instead of spins so i'm wondering how frequent these bigger cash prizes are going to be becouse that could be major rwting.

To be honest I think it's partly to do with the fact we have grown up…
I'm now 21 and RS is barely enjoyable. But back when I was… 14/5(?) It was. Things were exciting and I knew nothing of the game. I would be interested to see what young player who has never played an MMORPG and has no knowledge of hacks reacts to the game. I would think they would have the same emotions as we had when we were all younger…

I dont' think i can buy spins…
