Invest or Wait (Runescape Dicontinued Item Market Experts Read!)

So I have about 400M+ piled up.
My plan is to wait for bot nuke #2 and sell it all (horay) which ensure higher gp prices and great profit.
My other idea is to invest in a holiday item that will be worth (hopefully much) more in a few months time, I'm thinking 2-3 months.
Then sell the item for GP. And then sell my gp.
So those of you who watch/know the holiday/discontinued item market well, can you please give some insight on which (if any) holiday items are good to buy now/soon and should rise in price substantially in a few months?
It would be nice if you backed up your claims with graphs, reasoning, explanations, etc.
I really don't want to buy something, have it fall in price/not be able to sell at all/be stuck with it, and end up with less money!
(I know however doing this is always a (slight?) gamble, I want pretty good odds here or I won't do it!)
E:
OR?!
Since I have so much starting capital, I can just buy a ton of pretty much ANY item expected to rise, wait a few days/weeks and then sell it! Do this over and over a few times, byam! Money!
Any ideas on these would be nice too!

The way I see it is that discontinued items are ALWAYS going to rise gradually, yes they go up and down, but they will always go higher because more people, more gold. Simple inflation.
If you were hoarding items, I would wait till bots start to show up again, then sell all my loots.

Oh man you are right!
They are lowest since 2009??
During/Right before double XP weekends raw material prices go up up up right?
Sept is pretty far away though, but if my profit will be huge I can wait!
Something like Iron ore would be better, it's also very low, and much cheaper, so I can buy more of them!

yeah iron is a good investment, but its an unstable item in a big way atm.
Read the GE charts and determine Items you see will be beneficial.
If you need any advice feel free to drop me a line.
MY advice stays private, and you will use it yourself and disclose nothing i tell you :P
Just a condition because i make a lot of money this way.

One IMPORTANT tip.
Don't invest in Holidays rares at the moment. This is because many people are recovering account from 2001-2002 with rares on which is driving the price down as supply increases. I bought a blue h'ween mask, 2 days later was on Bug abuse << Recovering website. And this guy recovered an account with 303 Blue masks -.- They dropped 30m within the week and he made $7000. Just some advice I would take into consideration.

This^ :P
I would invest in either herb supplies or oak planks :P
I personally wouldn't invest in rs item any more. The legit user base is near at its all time low. But after bot nuke it should have a good chance of rise in rare price and even gp price (so you gotta decide which one rise faster).

If you plan stocking up before BXP, buy all the materials like unfs, logs, whatever materials that are popular on BXP, and then sell about 2-3 weeks left before BXP, because you won't be able to sell it later, since everyone will be selling materials.
And rares, slowly, but always, are rising, so IMO this is a safe investment.

Not worth it!

Santa hats are a guarantee to go up near christmas. They went all the way up to 180m last year. They are still dropping so wait a few weeks. You will double your cash guaranteed.

i presume dragon/frost bones will rise.
they are always at high demand, and with no bots there will be nothing to supply demand, so the prices will rise so you will sell for lots and lots of geepees :D

Definitely don't invest in items. The RS economy is shit and the user base is dwindling. Prices of everything are falling as there are less and less legitimate players and more people botting. If anything, merch with the money until the next bot nuke and dump it all. This game will only be popular for so much longer, especially with all the shit they've been adding.

If you are doing this you want to find an item that will always be in high demand when bots are gone, which may include gold ore, rocktails, logs, etc… I wouldn't risk it in rares in my opinion.

Do not invest in rare items before a bot nuke, because they always crash after the nuke as there's less gp going into the game.

ye definitely agree but would persoanlly wait a bit long than that and invest in something first … wait for Santa to go up 10m from dropping then hop on

I wouldn't expect rares to reach their previous prices for a while. Best off just investing in something like cannonballs, chins, oak planks, ect and waiting until a few weeks after bot nuke v2. Rares will definitely NOT go up during the next bot nuke, so don't hope for that!

Bought santa two months ago for 106m in hopes of flipping it for a few mil. Just recently sold it for 85m, taking a 21m loss.. If you look at the Grand Exchange chart for all rares, you will see they have been on a downward spiral for months not. Not a good idea to try and flip any rare.

They always crash during the summer! Why would you sell during summer? They hit 185m just before Christmas. Wait a few weeks then buy! And sell at Christmas!

Buying iron ore, rannars or any item in bulk is a big risk right now. I mean look what jagex has been doing, they are making skills easier and easier to achieve. For all we know herblore could be the next easy skill to level up in by september and you will be stuck with rannars that not many people will need.
Or even the mining could get easier.
Its a big risk right now as jagex is changing everything up and making it easier for everyone.
Should just sell the gold and make your cash back. Or take a risk at the market.

Most probably the game wont die out, the only thing that makes it seems like it is is that the 'old' players are quitting and and current fan base is dwindling, give it a few years and Jagex will have successfully lured a whole new generation of players who are into the whole high graphics item buying flashy game play.

I used to invest with sant hats, because I wanted long merches. But if you want to make money quickly… you should invest in basic items such as minerals, wood, herbs… to sell a week after bot nuke or some days before/during double xp weekeng.

Lol, you guys talking about wanting your old account makes me wish I had mine or my brothers. My brother was a staker in RSC (before rs2 came out). His name was po2n star. He racked in the party hats. He has 4 sets plus 2 extra pinks. I had 2 sets with 1 extra white. plus a whole bunch of santas because they were 200k at the time.

Don't bother with rares unless you know reflection bots or others are coming back strong like last year. They are still dropping from the previous bust because the lowered amount of money coming into the economy. I assume masks will be below 50m soon

This^, No offense to anyone. I dissagree with what most people are saying here.
There is practically no investment to be made.
With a practically non existant "legit" playerbase, runescape discontinued iteams aren't going to rise anytime soon, Especially when new armours and stuff are constantly coming out.
Lets face it, runescape isn't the most popular game out there, If your waiting to sell your gold for IRL money i dont really think you'll make any more than if you sell it now, Mabey even less. After the bot nuke wont all the botters be dumping there cash/botted accounts?
I think after the bot nuke you'll get less cash for your GP, I think after the bot nuke you'll get less GP for whatever you invest in atm.
Just my two cents

It's a fact that GP prices RISE after a nuke.
They rose by a lot after the first nuke and they most likely will after this one.
Less bots/farmers = less supply.
Demand will stay same.
GP prices will rise.

You have to factor these things
1) Yes, GP prices go up after bot nukes but as said the legit playerbase is dying down. The GP marketbase depends on legit players buying GP. With not as much demand as previous nukes the price won't go up. Hell I remember $10 per million on sythe way back in 05/06
2) Everyones planning on the next nuke and what to save up or get. Hundreds or thousands of people are saving there GP and investing in rares for the next nuke to try and cash out. Guess what if everyone does it then the nuke won't have much effect on GP prices. It'll take a hit as mass GP producers will be out of the game for a bit (Or they will just go back to having about 20 people in a small room fishing/cutting trees instead of 20 people in a small room monitoring 20 bots a peice making sure they operate at 100%)
Demand for GP honestly isn't that high, Everyone is rich and Runescape is adding more and more methods to train skills without the need of high amounts of GP anymore. You can get 99 runecrafting without spending a gp on ess. That's killing the economy. Watch a heblore mini game come out and destroy that market.
It seems jagex wants to make the game appealable to everyone who doesn't want to grind skills but I don't ever remember hearing people saying skills were too hard to level. I thought everyone agreed the reward for effort was balanced and equal.
I've heard from some source that Optimus has already been implemented (fix the fps and breaks down bots for…few days?). Jagex also stated that Optimus helps them to implement antibot measures more easily (rather than it itself being an antibot update) iirc.
Investing in items that are both goldfarmed and used for bxpw would be the best idea, as u will make nice profits even if Optimus fails completely. Herbs (farmed by sorc garden bots) and planks (im not sure if they are farmed?) and green dragonhides (quite a number of legits train crafting at bxpw) are all great investments ;)

I'd invest in red chins or some other supply which is hard to bot with pure colours. I think after last nuke red chins went up like 500%..

Actually, when investing it doesn't matter the amount of a certain item you buy, the thing that matters it the margin of profits, it doesn't matter if you can buy a million iron if your profit margin will just be of 1%, but if you buy in example; 3 santa hats for the same amount of money, but with a profit margin of 4% you would be earning 3% more than with the iron.
I would suggest you flip, i have found that flipping it's a good money maker and it has less risk than a long term investment.

Check items like yew logs that have a profound cycle… Identify the next dip, and buy when it happens.. sell at the peak.
I just did this last week, bought yews at 570 each, they jumped to 581 the next day, and 586 the other day, and I sold them all. Easy money.

To be honest my brother spent $300 on RSGP over various black markets for roughly $.50 a mil (Before the bot nuke). Within about a month he was able to sell all 600m for roughly $450. BANK WAS MADE!
